I just logged in to my Air Miles account, and was really excited to see how fast I've jumped up not only past the $10 redemption mark, but am almost at the $20 redemption mark. I haven't changed how much I spend in a month, just how and where I shop for some things. I've been searching SC for a thread that keeps track of great Air Miles deals but I haven't seen one. I'm still fairly new here, so I'm wondering if there is one and I just can't find it?

    TIA!

What a great idea! I was just talking about this..my sister-in-law lives in Edmonton and they travel a lot using air miles, I just can't seem to get that many air-miles in Ottawa!! She started telling me how she gets them, she mentioned Safeway, which we don't have!! Prescription drugs 10x points etc.
i would love to know what is the best credit card to use. Any advice would be appreciated!!

There is a great thread in the "Deals" section from operabob that has all the Safeway AirMiles deals. (http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/23424-s...-deals-canada/) Unfortunately, I live in the East and I don't have Safeway, so it's not applicable.

Here I get most of my Air Miles from my BMO Mastercard and Sobey's (we don't have Sobey's Points like Ontario). A few weeks ago they have a mailed out coupon that was for 95 AM ($10) WUB a $200 GC... and if you spend a lot of money there you can get multiples in the same transaction. My Mom gets $600 of GCs frequently, but I don't have that much extra cash on hand to dump it into a GC.

Blog. Open an account with Tangerine (formerly ING-Direct) using my Orange Key (40643422S1), deposit $100 and we both get $50! Offer is available until December 31st. Check here for more details.

Yes I did see that site and am very thankful for the breakdown on the first page, however I, too am in Ontario (Ottawa area) and do not have a safeway anywhere near me. It's so hard to comb through every store that offers AM in order to find a deal that works for me. I'm, thankful for the Shoppers thread as I am an optimum junkie, but my goal is to earn good points or money on every penny I spend.

I bought a $100 GC yesterday, I'm thinking I should have bought two. One thing I've done in the past, buy the GC for the bonus air miles, and buy other gift cards with it. For example, we're going away soon, so I'm going to get some Subway GCs with it and pay using my Sobeys GC. I've bought NSLC (liquor store) GCs that way too.

Many of my air miles come from my AMEX card. I have that one only for Costco since they don't take Visa.

I didn't realize how good of a deal the 50 wus $50 at Shell was until I was reading that only $20 of it had to be spent on gas, and that gift cards were included. That was my "why didn't I do this sooner?" moment.

Just my opinion but if you want to get the most Air Miles with the least money spent, Metro has some good deals occasionally, where you can spend as little as $10 or $20 dollars, combine Air Miles bonus offers and use coupons.

I thought the gas had to be $20 on premium? That's what it said on the sign when we were there.

Yes! This is the kinda thing I'm looking for! Surely it's not just Metro, though? I know Rexall sometimes has deals as well but unless someone slaps me with the math, I'm not sure I'd pick up on a good air miles deal on my own form looking at the flyers.

Sorry, yes I should specify for others who are reading this. It was on V-Power gas only. Don't know if that's always the case, though?

I spent $167 on over $200 worth of stuff at (Atlantic) Sobey's. Since I went over $200 before coupons, I got 10x Air Miles this weekend. One of the items I bought was 10 AM WUB 2,... well I bough 8 6-packs (my fiance drinks one Glucerna per day). So that was another 40 for $36 ($11.99 on sale for $8.99, and 4x$4 coupons, and 4x$5). And I had a bonus coupon for 20 AM WUS$100, and 5 AM WUB2 Soda Crackers. I used a total of $45 in coupons (saving 25% on my order).

In total I earned 165 Air Miles ($17.37) for doing a two week shop this weekend instead of splitting it up.

Metro's back page usually has some good deals on Air Miles.

I'm not that good with Air Miles deals at Rexall, but SCs were able to get 10 Air Mile for free or just paid tax (see post#1 and 2):

I had an email today from AM, saying that Old navy was now an AM sponsor!!! My DD loves their deals, free shipping offers and now I get bonus AM too! I think right now there is an offer of 10 bonus AM if you buy, but I forget the amount you need to spend.

Here is a news article I found about it
