Ok..it's 'cute' the first, second, maybe even the third time someone asked you if you are like those 'people' on that extreme couponing show. They talk about me like i'm a circus freak . I have tried to explain that in fact i really don't use many more coupons now than i ever have and that i've always used them. My husband vigourously agreeing (he's always embarassed in the store ..but loves the savings of course and excited to find the coupons).
Really I think the only changes I've noticed is that there are more numbers of coupons out there..but there are more couponers
The coupon values are higher...but prices have gone up.. and that coupons have greatly limited the length of the time frame of use. This might change over time.
As a child there weren't really coupons but more 'quick sales' and I remember going with my parents to buy huge quantities of bread and items to freeze to stock pile. So over time I learned to stock pile items that were on sale and with coupons and therefore never pay full price for anything.
We refer to the stockpile as the 'Caring Cupboard' and I always ask the kids to get things from there. |It's a wonderful thing to teach your children young that buying your provisions at reasonable prices can inprove your quality of life.
