today I went to Giant Tiger. On the FRONT of their flyer they have advertised Chapmans 2L ice cream for $4.77 and get a free sport lollys. My intention was to buy the ice cream, get the free lollys, use my $5 Chapmans coupon and get $1.50 back from checkout 51...a pretty good plan I would say. I went to the till and the ice cream rang up as $4.97...do you see what I see...SCOP! so I ask the cashier, do you follow SCOP? She says yes and has to call the store mnger (ok, fine). After a lengthily phone call and me holding up the line, the cashier comes back and says SCOP only applies for the shelf price which was posted as $4.97 not a flyer price, but I can give it to you for $4.77. Now I knew I was already getting it for $0 oop, but that's not the point. Conveniently they have the SCOP right at the till. I read it out loud-if the shelf price or any advertised price is lower etc....so I tell the cashier I am pretty sure the flyer is an advertised price. So she has to call the mnger again (who by the way was too lazy to actually come to the till??) and then the cashier comes back and says, ok I can give it to you. So moral of the story, stick to your guns, be persistant (and polite) when you know you are right. I currently have 2L ice cream, sport lollys, $5Chapmans coupon (didn't have to use), and $1.50 added to my checkout 51 account! Even with a receipt showing zero...they still accepted it! All in all...a good day! Enjoy!

Good for you! I still find GT a little green in coupon stuff but DH loves it there. It' great thatyou stood your ground. I always tell DH if I have any doubts in my mind that I may be wrong, okay I'll let it ride and figure it out later but when I am right don't even think try. I'm glad you reminded me about the SCOP policy on the side of the cash, I forget who else educated us tip on the forum the other night and I am sorry, I usually try togive credit where credit is due.
Good for you and just a note too if unsure and in no hurry do not take item and go somewhere else and PM or call H.O. and come back. Whatever you choose.
Thanks for sharing and I'm proud of you too for standing your ground and thanks for taking the time to share. Don't mess with a couponer who knows her rights.
