I am only slightly above totally in the dark about them. The value varies widely depending on what you are cashing them in on. For me they are not a main "points thing" for me, so I use them for things that I would like to have but might not otherwise buy at that moment. Many years ago they bought my breadmaker and still have and use it. More recently they were used to replace an immersion blender that needed to be replaced. A friend of mine has the credit card, does her gas at Chevron, buys all groceries at SOF, does her monthly purchase the week they offer the big points etc. and collects an amazing number of points that she uses toward travel. She uses the points to get her airfare and then pays for the cruise or whatever she is doing. She however does not coupon etc. so is not focused on the best buy on everything.

Either look up online the various things you can redeem for or pick up a catalogue of rewards items the next time you are in store. Current one is valid til Sept. 26, so there will be a new one soon. Check it out for things that might interest you and then look at the value from there based on the worth of the item to you. I personally don't cash for the smallest things or for food items when offered as I don't think they offer as good a value. Regular purchased accumulate very few. It is the bonus things that allow you to accumulate.

My tips to accumulate a few more: We do use the SOF pharmacy. Their pricing is very competitive where I am compared to everyone else. Have someone in the household on multiple prescriptions. Whenever possible we call the prescription in the day before or drop it off for pick up the next day--that is worth some extra points at our SOF. And always print the 500 points coupon prior to pickup. Assume you have signed up for the emails so you are getting that.

And the most important tip: Check your points balance and your card details and profile online once in awhile. Twice SOF has linked our card with someone with a completely different name and address. Both times we could have lost all of our points if that other person had redeemed. Both times required major discussion with a customer service rep, and multiple trips to the store to get things straightened out and our points balance back--because when they split off the person they had joined to us, half of the points went to that person. They are only supposed to link people with the same address.
