While we're waiting lets talk books!

What are your favorites?

In our house we collect kids books. Seriously it's becoming an addiction. lol. I get more excited than the kids do when the Scholastic orders come out. hahaha. Some of our absolute favorites (that we own) are: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site, The Very Itchy/Hungry Bear, Corduroy, Hugless Douglas, all the Llama Llama books, almost every Dr. Seuss Book, the Pigeon series.

Myself, I pretty much will read any main stream type books (just nothing with lots of gore). Some of my favourite series have been: Harry Potter, Twilight (yeah, I know. lol), Mortal Instruments, Odd Thomas, Violet Eyes books, Sookie Stackhouse (have the last book on hold at the library but its taking forever! No spoilers please if you've read it. lol).

I've also read almost all James Patterson books - except anything in the past year. He just churns out the books! I can't keep up! lol

Corduroy is the best! Can I still answer questions even though I'm not riding?? LOL.

Omg I loooved the Scholastic Book Fairs when I was in elementary school, haha. Babysitter's Club all the way!

I love Nicholas Sparks and John Grisham <3 have read every book by them.
I like Jodi Picoult too..have read a few of hers. James Patterson, Dan Brown..
I've read a few of the "main stream" books too, loved The Help, 50 Shades of Grey (who didn't?), Twilight (movies sucked lol). I liked Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard by James Frey...The Giver (! there's an oldie), Memoirs of a Geisha...The Golden Compass Series by Phillip Pullman (i think?) I'm sure there's more but those are what come to mind atm.

I just ordered a few step 1 books for DD (the pre reading type). She's going into SK and they are expected to start reading. She still struggles with the alphabet sometimes. I'm worried about reading! I've bought so many flash cards and work books for the alphabet, not sure what else to try! I got the foam bath alphabet letters but DS started eating them. I need to find hard plastic or even homemade cloth ones. Maybe put them in the sensory bin...

Any ideas????

I love books! I'm a voracious reader, always have been. I remember trips to the public library with my mom as far back as when I was 3 years old. The children's section was small, and the French children's section was minuscule, but I loved it (only understood French when I was very little).

I don't have a favorite author, because I read so many different kinds of books, both fiction and non-fiction. Love mystery novels (I've read pretty much every Elizabeth George novel), and am still a sucker for a historical romance novel. But also read just regular fiction that doesn't have a type. Most recently finished book was Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones. Just got a Kobo, and love it (got it for free at SDM with a bonus redemption just before Easter). Want to get the newest Jeffrey Archer novel in the Clifton Chronicles, as read the first two while on vacation in January.

Also read lots of non-fiction. The bargain book section at Chapters is my favorite. Have spent many, many hours in there. Have often ended up buying a book I might not have read if it was full price, but at $5 or less, I'll get it. Lots of history, archaeology, science and nature, and more recently health, nutrition, food/recipes.

I love the bargain book section at Chapters too!! I have to stop myself from buying a lot of books when I go there now because I don't end up reading them for months-years. I actually read one the other week that I probably bought when I was like 19 and really enjoyed it!
