Hello All,
So I was at WM, the same store I always go to. I did not get overage, 4 times!
First time - olay coupons - "I am not sure how to do this.. I have to call the manager.." waiting.. waiting... waiting...
Second time - $5 coupon for $3 Scrubbing Bubbles - "I can only discount $3" - I was only buying two.
Third time - $3 coupon for $2 Nexxus shampoo - "I can not do this because its over the price, I have to call the supervisor.." blah blah blah.....
Fourth time - one per purchase - explained.. "You can only buy one"
Holy... Are they still not trained? I got overage before all these happened.. now I am worried to go and get overage!!!!! Somebody please help!!!!
I know some of you may say I should pull out the policy... but I didn't really want to as some WM say they are not really official policy..
I am not saying I need overage. I just hope if they 'offer' this type of thing, at least it can cover some of my taxes. I am not hoping to get like $20 back!..This thread is currently associated with: OlayLast edited by uselotsofcoupons; Tue, Jun 28th, 2011 at 03:45 PM.

Yes a few months back, WM Canada emailed an "official policy" that was essencially the same as the WM "Corporate" or American policy.
The thing is, if you call/email them now, they will tell you that they do not have an official policy, which leaves all coupon acceptance up to each individual manager.
I do not think you were abusing overages in any way with your small purchase, but many Walmarts have had large overage only purchases, which may be the case with other customers at your location, thus the change.

I went to Zellers the other day and same thing happened to me. No overages. I walked away with my coupons to save for another day. I only had 2 coupons. I was going to buy 4 items so they didn't need to give any cash back. Oh so sad...

I had a very bad experience at Walmart and spoke to head office yesterday. Walmart does not have an 'official' coupon policy, but the do have an 'official' set of coupon guidelines. The woman on the phone told me the manager does have the right to refuse coupons, but that they CANNOT set their own policy.
The guidelines state that overages ARE allowed, even on sale or clearance items.
I would suggest filing a complaint with WM's head office, who will then follow-up with the manager at the store you had a problem with, and communicate to them the guidelines they should be following. I had a response back from the store manager of the store I had problems at today, and was told they WOULD honour my coupon and were very sorry that I had trouble, as they DO follow the guidelines set out by head office.

Our Walmart never did allow overages and I'm totally fine with that. Buying a ton of travel sized to get overages seems a bit counterproductive to me. It may be good for the wallet in the short term but we should also think about the long term impact on the environment and the legacy and example we set for our children.
I can appreciate that we all try our hardest to save money via couponing. I also know the importance of budgeting/saving as a stay at home mom and a husband making a wage that just covers our living expenses.

I am one of those who try to get the trial sized items - but only for products my family and I actually use. I hold onto them and keep them as stocking stuffers!
