ANOTHER Canadian Tire $5 scratch card promo!!!!

To use the card, the instructions were clear that a min. purchase was needed and rung in, then customer could scratch a card, then cashier would redeem CT voucher or provide Tim Horton's card before completing the transaction.

The points of contention seem related to SCers who managed to get the redemption/Tim Horton's cards without following the min. $5 purchase part of the instructions. Then that prompts the question of why anyone should follow the promotion if the instructions are not applied equally to all customers wanting to participate in the promotion.

i got $5.00 off my purchase which came in great use because i bought a toaster, kettle and a vacuum that was already advertised for 55% off so that was an added bonus for me !!! love it!!

The promo fits the definition.

i got about 12 of them and the cashier was so nice she just told us e didnt have to purchase anything if we got the timmies card wich we did .. we didnt have to buy nothing..we were lucky..

Quite a variance on understanding the instructions on the back of the scratch cards.
At this point, I'd like someone from Canadian Tire's marketing department to weigh in on the transaction rule-mandatory minimum $5 purchase or not before scratching card in front of cashier.

They had pretty simple instructions for the cashiers on the back of the card, I don't know why it was so hard to understand.

Ah, okay, so I'm not the only one who got strange made-up rules when I went I had a couple of items totally over $5 but one wasn't urgent so figured I wouldn't get it if it was Timmies card, which it was. The cashier then said the total had to be $3 to get the Tim's card, I said it wasn't anywhere on the scratch card and her response was that is what the manager said she had to do... so much for having rules about stuff like this... just make things up as you go apparently... still tempted to return the item and just keep the one I was going to get anyways.

Its no purchase necessary. Meaning you can go to the cash with nothing, and scratch it in front of them, and then choose your stuff. The reason you have to scratch is in stores is probably because it forces you to go there and spend money!
Last time I redeemed about 8 of them and had no issues.

There is no draw. The card says 'no purchase required to obtain a card' - which is correct, people got them in their flyers.

I understand that people are frustrated with the ambiguity but Canadian Tire isn't in the business of giving stuff away for nothing. They are offering an incentive for people to shop in their store.

The Coleman Sundome tent is on sale in the upcoming flyers (till July 13th.) 6 person: 174.99. 5 person: 118.99 and 3 person: 64.99

I was wondering if someone who had the CT flyer could tell me if the Coleman Sundome tent was on ad this week coming up. DH and I are needing to buy a new tent and we are waiting for a sale. A scratch and win card would go nicely. Thnx in advance.

Alright, the scoop on these cards is pretty easy to figure out, redemption of cards that are NOT tim hortons are X$ off AT canadian tire, I believe that in order to get that, you need to purchase on the spot, however, since CT is NOT in the business of SELLING and providing Tim Hortons and they are giving away part of these as part of a PROMOTION, yes, it IS a promotion, and it clearly states ON the card NO PURCHASE neccessary, and that THESE cards MUST be scratched in front of a cashier, then THEY are making it mandatory, this is part of the rule, that is true however since CT cannot provide the tims coffee, they need to provide the card (tims) WITHOUT purchase.
