You have to have another bank account for them to set you up. Since they don't have branches or a place you can go setup an account to elimate fraud they have you send in a cheque from another bank that you do business with. I have a PC account also no fees so if you're close to a Loblaws or RCSS I would suggest setting something up with them. Otherwise ask your current bank to give you a few cheques in the meantime. I've done this before while waiting for cheques to arrive in the mail. Any branch will usually give you a few temporarly one's. Perhaps ask ING if that would be ok.So problem, I signed up for the new Thrive account - but they want me to send a cheque and I don't have cheques... Theres no online reps that I can talk to so anyone know what I can do. Thanks

Thanks
I'll ask my bank if they can give me a few cheques - I don't want to really order a batch since I want to just switch banks completely.

Does anyone know if SC has a thread for people to share their orange key's? I don't want to start one if there already is - but it would be nice for people to be able to post them in a centralized place and help each other out : )

I admit i have not used it a lot, don't ask me why but i really should switch almost all to ing and i do plan to eventually. But regardless it is awsome!! You even earn interest so its a win win.
It is mostly just cuz my dd's RESP and that is at td canada trust and i don't think they really offer that at ing.so i can't really close the whole account.https://legerweb.com/VADJC Join Leger Web And Start Earning Today =)

We've been using PC and ING for years. PC for chequing/everyday, ING for savings. Opened the thrive account a few months back and it has been wonderful - just paid the house taxes with it instead of transferring the money to PC, was able to send it right from ING.
As for "real" banks, we have one account at the Royal Bank - we pay no service charges (allowed 2 free transactions a month), I'll ussually deposit or withdrawl $10.00 just to keep it active. It is linked to our PC and ING so I can transfer between them.
I also keep it open for any rolled change we have, we bring it there, I refuse to by 9% the machine charges.
Also we had a bit of a bad experience with PC years ago when we needed a certified cheque -- it took almost a week! IF we need one again, I will just transfer money to RBC and go get it there in person.

I had PC but one time was dinged with an NSF fee due to their transfer delays. Never again. Got myself a Thrive account and have been with ING ever since. BTW, they have a free $250 overdraft protection so i'm a happy camper. If anyone needs an Orange Key for their new Thrive account, feel free to use 17497681S1. It's never been used and earns you a bonus $25 when you make an initial $100 deposit.
Happy saving!

I have both ING & PCF accounts. I use ING as my savings account because in my town, there isn't a "front". It's only internet banking. Anytime I've had any questions & called their customer service, they've been great & very courteous. No problems!!! It's great for no fees & a higher interest rate (as high as they get these days!).
As for PCF, I love them too!!! I have a great customer service kiosk in our RCSS that has a lady there that's worked there since it opened. She's cheerful, knowledgable & remembers opening my account way back when & says "hi" to me when I shop RCSS. I haven't had any issues at all with PCF, in fact I promote it to everyone who's looking. They have great mortgage rates, a great MC to use to gain free groceries in no time, & there are NO FEES!! No one should have to pay fees to have the banks invest YOUR money to make THEM millions while they pay you piddly interest rates.
Both are great banks....no problems & very goood customer service. All banking is best done online with these 2 banks, but they do have bank machines if you'd rather do it that way.
PM me if you have any further questions!! I love them both!!!

I have a few questions:
1. Can I pay my RBC credit cards with the money from ING thrive checking account?
2. Can I transfer online money from ING thrive checking account to RBC checking account?
2. In order to get the $100 in ING account, does the payroll need to be sent to ING account until July 31st or is it enough only to open an account until July 31st? I am not sure my employer will switch very fast the accounts for me...
I would really appreciate your help!!!Thanks.

1. Yes you can. Just add them up as a payee. RBC Credit Cards are listed as "Royal Bank Visa".
2. Yes, you can. You can do from any external bank to any ING account, and also between any ING accounts. No limits on # of transactions
3. A payroll must be deposited before that date. They don't care when your account is actually opened.Appreciate my help? I'd also appreciate it if you used my referrals

You're welcome. If you need help with anything, just give me a shout

Also, if you're opening your account for the first time, and you do NOT have cheques from another bank you can use:
1) Temporary Cheques from another bank
2) A void cheque form / direct deposit form. Just make sure your banker/teller also signs and stamps the form too, along with your signature & client numberAppreciate my help? I'd also appreciate it if you used my referrals
