Buyer beware... these "Green" drives from seagate spin down needlessly when not accessed after even a short period of time.

This can cause your system to freeze or hang for the few seconds while the drive is entering it's powered-down / low-power state.

I bought one of these once, and yanked it out of my system after a few hang-ups... It's not a defect, it's by design because the replacement one I tried did the same thing.
I wound up putting it into an external enclosure where it's better suited.

A great price for 2TB of storage, but at what cost of performance.

Additionally, if you're an online gamer, these hang-ups could cost you your life (virtually speaking).

It was $54.99 at NCIX a few days ago. I agree with bhlombardy, great price, ... but not the best of the Seagate's products.

Agreed, Seagate's reputation is a bit shaky right now. It isn't too difficult to find either WD or Hitachi drives for the same price now, and the performance will be better.

If you're planning on RAID, I would probably get Samsung F4s instead. Cost more at around $70, but the reliability is better.
