Patty when this story first broke I swear my heart skipped a beat, then when one person on the news talked about them searching for missing people, he said people would have been vaporized, they will not find many. I had to turn this one off, just so devastating beyond understanding.

Criminal inquiry Lac-Megantic train blast
A criminal inquiry has been launched in Canada into the derailment of an oil train that killed at least 15 people in a small Quebec town on Saturday.
Quebec police inspector Michel Forget said investigators had found evidence leading them toward a criminal probe.
The runaway train derailed in the town of Lac-Megantic, exploding and destroying dozens of buildings.
Investigators are focusing on whether the brakes were released as it was parked in a town several miles away.Last edited by Darth Penguin; Wed, Jul 10th, 2013 at 12:36 AM.

Hello friends on Smartcanucks,Lac Megantic is our neighbor town,I live 15 miles from there and that is the town where we do all our shopping, doctors, school and everything. Over here everyone will know someone who is on the missing list ,Its very tragic and very sad my heart goes out to all the famlies who have lost a love one.
These kind of trains have to be stopped now and lets hope our goverments don't let us down on this ,companies like Montreal,Maine & Alantic (MMA) have to be stopped there are driving these trains through all our towns across our whole country!!! I was glad to see Mr.Harper at the scene and he saw first hand what happened and said himself it was like a war zone.

It's such a horrible tragedy; I've been following the news daily on it.
It's opened the discussion - again - like you say bluerose - here in our city, too.
Too bad pipeline capacity is stretched to the limit - but then, there are people opposed to pipelines, so....
Prayers for all those affected.

First victim named as 93 yo Eliane Parenteau-Boulanger
The first victim of a runaway oil train's explosive derailment in a Quebec town has been identified, more than five days since the disaster.
Eliane Parenteau, 93, lived alone in her home right next to the railway line, in downtown Lac-Megantic.
She was a high-spirited woman, the only remaining survivor of 11 siblings, and still lived in the family home where she raised her own children.
Defiant Mrs Parenteau had told her family that she did not ever want to end up in a nursing home, preferring to die in her own home.
Her son Michel Boulanger, described his mother as 'kicking and alive' and always had a humuorous approach to life.

28 bodies now found in Lac Megantic
Canadian police say 28 bodies have now been found following the train disaster in the Quebec town of Lac-Megantic.
Another 22 people are missing and presumed dead after a train carrying oil derailed and exploded in the town.
Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil scheduled for Friday evening was cancelled due to police concerns over large crowds.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of blast, which saw some 2,000 residents forced to flee their homes.
The town centre - where large areas have been wiped out - is being treated as a crime scene.
Saturday will mark one week since the disaster.
