So I was browsing down at my GT in Cambridge. I seen that there was a tear pad missing for the aquafina. I asked the manager when he would be expecting more in. Since I have been on the look out for these( my fav drink). He told me to go look at the fridge at the front and they might have some. There was none. So I checked out. I asked the cashier if she has seen any because I would like to have a few. She said yes I keep them up here at the till. She explained that ppl take the whole tear pad or a lot of them and take them to shop at other stores. Im like well taking the whole tear pad is wrong. I very nicely asked her for one. She asked if I was buying some. I said im not today but might in the future when they go on sale. Right now they are 1.88. I have seen them as low as a 1.00. I showed her my binder and explained I save my coupon for sales and would like one.She told me that I couldnt have one since I wasnt buying any. And those coupons are to benefit their store. Now I can appreciate that but its a manufacturer coupon. Its put there for customers to take one maybe two. She had a bunch of coupons at the cash that I couldnt see. Now I dont think this is right. If she has a bunch of coupons stashed behind her cash , then how is it a benefit when the customers dont even know they are there? Myself personally dont think this should be allowed. Next time I am down there I will try to ask someone. I go down there a lot and dont want trouble. But all I wanted was one coupon. She had a whole tearpad.

I can understand the thought process, but to not even get one when one was requested? That is not right at all.

To be honest with ya, I really dont think its a store policy. I think there cashiers are making up non sense. I am so disappointed. I cant afford to spend $3.79 on 2 things of botle water when I can pay $2.00, of course get one free. No justice in that.

That can't be a policy because my store here in town doesnt do that.......but i have emailed their head office to double check there hasnt been a change because if this is the case i will not shop there anymore....
i get that people take more then they should sometimes but why should the rest of us get punished for that

Exactly cpals!!!!!!!! I was so darn mad when I came home. I started ranting to my neighbour. I certainly do feel punished , and now that i remember I did say that to this cashier that now I get punished for other ppls mistakes. I am going bk tomorrow and heading to that cash and getting some. I had to tell you guys about this to make sure that this wasnt right.!!! I will def post if I indeed get some. I have been looking and looking for these coupons.

I know GT does this in my area and I think its not fair. Second, I know Longo's at bayview does this too they keep all coupons at the cash registers, I personally think it makes no sense.
I got curious and took a coupon guess what expires in a week why would
they waste these coupons.

I never even knew that they hoard coupons at the till. Surprisngly I seen a kraft pasta salad tearpad only was 0.30 off so maybe thats why they left it. In my eyes the tear pads are out for us to take. Not to collect dust beind a till to expire. You know what I might just go bk there tonight when a diff cashier is on. And ask to see these tearpads.

My GT in Brampton, ON does the same thing. All the coupons are with the cashiers. Sometimes there will be a sign by the product ("see cashier for coupon"), but more often there isn't. I'll walk through the store only see a couple of signs for specific coupons with cashiers...then at the cashout, I'll see dozens of different types of coupons under their tills.

We dont have any signs that say the coupon is with the cashier. I could maybe deal with that. I just seen tons of tear pads behind her till where no one can see unless she takes them out. They should have a board with them all hanging up. Evenif they are behind the till. at least ppl could see them and use them!

Interesting...the only place I've seen anything like that in the lower mainland is at Buy Low in Langley where they had the previous VH booklets at the till BUT it was still accessible by anyone going through that register to pick up however many they'd like.
Now I understand the reasoning why they would even attempt to do that BUT that's just simply crazy!
Without the customer knowing that there are coupons available you are RELYING on the cashier to to let you that one is available for a product you are purchasing. They have enough on their plates as it is. I don't know how many times that I had to remind a cashier to scan something (ie. like the coupon booklet coupon at LD when they're got that promo on)
