loblaw is starting to have better deals than metro
@frugal50 Loblaws, Sobey and Metro (others?) have been having price wars throughout 2016. It may come to an end in 2017 or continue for a bit more:shrug:

Zehrs 3-day sale Post Alpha bits x 2 @1.67ea (Honeycomb, Honey Bunches of Oats sold out!), and sparkling apple juice 50% off. WM had 75% off select xmas décor, purchased wrap, ribbon and bags to put away for next year. I got to the party late as a lot had flown off the shelves but still got a few nice things--you snooze you lose I guess. (Thought WM had some really nice items for xmas this year.)
Just eyeing the Giant Tiger flyer

Knew it was a long shot but I decided to go looking for some Christmas-themed Ziploc containers at RCSS. No luck, but I did find:
No Name Cranberry Sauce at RCSS marked down to $0.24 /can, expires Jan 2018, I bought 8 (Easter, Thanksgiving, Next Christmas, and a couple for roast chicken dinners in between).
President's Choice Egg Nog at RCSS marked down to $0.24/1L, bought 8 and tossed them in the freezer. Personally, I can't stand the stuff but my kids love it. My son wants to make ice cream out of some of it.
4-pk Scotch Tape marked down to $0.94 each. Got two of them.
Shoppers
2xTroll alarm clocks(one for dd, one for a bday gift)-$13.99 each (fyi for anyone thinking of buying one, they have no volume control, the alarm blares "Get back up again" for a good two minutes with no option to change it to less annoying beeps).
2x disney over ear headphones(Finding Dory and Monster Trucks) for the siblings of the bday girl-$11.99
3 pack bath bombs-$2.49
Spent $60 something and got over 10000 pts
Shoppers, Big tin of Quality Street chocolates$4.99, bought 4 said reg. price was $22.99, so I got 4 tins for the price of one. (Yeah I know nobody pays that price, I did see them on sale for $12.99) The small tin was on sale for $8.99!!!!
Was able (with a lot of stress and deciding to stop shopping at my RCSS) to get the deal on Post Honey Shreddies...
Honey Shreddies (540g * 8): $34.32 - PM(4 @ $1.67 Loblaws; $10.48 OFF) - PM(4 @ $1.67 YIG; $10.48 OFF) - $8.00(8 @ $1) = $5.36/8
Why have you stopped shopping at the RCSS, May I ask? Maybe I am just out of the loop.
Oh, It's a number of different issues that have arisen over the two plus years that I have been shopping there (mainly for my family). The big issues are with price matching and couponing at their store. To me it seems like they try to do everything to stop you from saving money (also wrote about it in the rant thread as well). Rude, ignorant and otherwise braindead employees who can't EVER seem to make up their minds for anything. Or how about the meat "supervisor" (I use supervisor very loosely) who calls the meat that you are getting the, and I quote him; "s**t stuff" (Had a 30% sticker) or how about the cashier who says that, and I quote; "one per purchase means one per transaction, every other cashier has been doing it wrong for you" and to then have a once again I use the term very loosely, "supervisor" come over who agreed with her to be the one who has accepted your coupons numerous times before without fail. And to then have RCSS (Messaged their facebook page) agree with the store in that they can read the coupons however they please and decline valid coupons.
Those are very few of the numerous reasons why I CAN NOT STAND THIS STORE ANYMORE
^sad to hear about bad experiences like these. I so appreciate when you come across experienced caring staff in the veg, deli or butcher departments that look at their jobs as careers and take pride in what they do. Hope the stores these folks work at value them--those are the stores I keep going back to.
WM brand turtles $3.50--nom nom.
Actually I really like the RCSS in Aurora and the No Frills. Both of the stores have changed their price matching policies but there is not much you can do about that. I have my times picked out when it is usually the best times to pm and coupon.
I always have the items and the coupons organized for them so things do not get missed and I always recheck the coupons that they are exact. I will not do any grey area price matching or couponing
I think that no matter where you shop you will always get that cashier that will say, and I quote I am going to have to call the manager because I think it is unfair that you are getting such a good deal
That sucks! I had a bad experience with the Aveeno at one of my local RCSS's here in Oshawa last fall. The RUDEST cashier ever, she held up the line (should have been a simple in/out thing as I only had one, had my phone ready with the picture and grabbed the same one in the photograph!). She told me repeatedly that she was "sick of this!" (people price matching or using coupons? I wasn't sure as I wad doing both) and called over the supervisor, who had no problem ringing it through. Years ago I had a horrible time at Giant Tiger and it actually caused me to stop shopping there for years. Glad I am back now, so far so good since they seem to be very friendly with couponers now.
Had a good shop today at No Frills, Metro and Giant Tiger

Too lazy to figure out how much I really saved including sale prices, but I know it's a good amount. Have to go back to No Frills tomorrow for the milk, ribs and chicken. Speaking of No Frill's, I almost didn't get my cereal deal, they seemed to be hiding it, along with Lucky Charms and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the back because none of those were on the display or marked down on the shelves. Was so suspicioso that I think the manager is on to those Tasty Mornings Coupons! But with a friendly smile and a little asking, a great supervisor went and grabbed my nine boxes from the back. :P
Saputo cheese slices on checkout 51 various flavours .50 rebate
SDM Bought "Spa in a box" from skin republic, it was on sale for $20.00 after Christmas, it comes with collagen eye patches, face masks, feet and hand masks, 5 packages, some you can use 3 times.I wasn't going to buy it I thought it was too expensive, then I went and checked them on the display and they are anywhere from $9.00 to $18.00 a package, I calculated I got over &65.00 of products for $20.00. Bought 1 box and came home and tried the under eye collagen patch, well I'm not one that gets too excited by anything, but this actually worked, it got rid of the puffy, tired looking eyes, after the holidays, wrinkles seemed less noticeable, but a few people said you look rested, younger what did you do? That's when I knew I had to get more, well they were sold out everywhere, until today, I went to another SDM and I didn't see them anywhere, so I asked, most people didn't know what I was talking about, but this girl knew right away and brought me to them, she said they weren't on sale they were $40.00, I told her I bought 1 for $20.00, she scanned them and they were $20.00, I bought all 4 boxes that she had left. At the cash I asked about the Versace umbrella they had, she said if you buy a Versace perfume it's a gift, but she gave me one anyone, plus a bunch of samples!! I paid with my points and only ended up paying $16.xx for everything!! Then I went to Metro, got my free Nature valley bars one sale 3/$5.00 less $5.00 coupon, 3 boxes of shreddies on sale for $1.99 less $1.00 coupon, so .99 cents a box!! Sorry for how long this is, but I had a great day!! Can't wait to have a spa day this week-end!!
