Thread: A few good brags on a sad day

It started of pretty gloomy of a day. Got a phone call mid morning to come and say my goodbyes to a close family friend. A fellow SCer, her hubby calls us CFF (coupon friends forever) took me for some retail therapy.
We hit up LD with a partial list of things to check out, at first it was looking blah till she pulled out her Zellers flyer and the PMing started to fly!
Dove was PM'd to zellers I got:
4 mens body wash (2 with trail size deodorants) $3 each
4 mens deodorant $3 each
Always PM'd to safeway BOGO
2 32 count pads $8.49 for 2
French's mustard PM'd to safeway BOGO
4 french's $2.99 for 2
as i was checking out the food aisle i came across catelli pasta for $0.99 a box
(only certain ones) and I had used up all my catelli smart coupons already
it was still a good deal though. I had coupons for the healthy harvest ones that were on clearance.
All in all I got just over $50 after taxes for $23.83 including taxes!
Later that night my hubby comes to me says what we doing now. I said what do you mean, he says you going out. I was thinking of going to WM, he's say okay lets go. Now if you knew my hubby that is a start the car moment on the other end!
We go to wally. I scope out the health and beauty first. grab a few cans of the satin care shave gel, I go in search of the 250mL bottle of gillete and old spice body wash and find some. find the crest for 88 cents then my husband comes back to me with all this small stuff not on sale but alas he's brought me to wally so i'll use the overages to get him goodies. I decided to go in search of this resolve spray n wash i've been reading about. I find some on clearance for $3 look at my coupons for $1 off and wonder how people are getting it for free. I thought what the hell its a bonus size i'll go for it. i have two small kids it'll get used! rings up at $1
i'm estatic at this point. Wally bill wasn't anything to brag about as a whole I did use $30.50 worth of coupons and had the newbie cashier tell me she wanted to get into couponing so i wrote down all the sites i could think of including SC of course! oh and i RAOK a lady down the hair dye aisle. I think the husband was more excited than she was. He was opting her to get two boxes instead of one for the $3 off!
So all in all it was a good end to a gloomy day until i got the call that our close family friend went in her sleep a little while ago.
It's been quite the day and i think it's time for bed!

Goodbyes are never easy....sorry to hear of your loss.
On another note, congrats on the deals! I couldn't help but laugh when reading about your hubby....that's so cute! LOL! Not only for the fact he wanted to go to Walmart shopping but coming up to you with a handful of goodies for you to get with your overages!

Just remember she fell asleep and is just sleeping. She'll wake again one day. I promise.

Think happy thoughts... She sounded like a great person... And like charityg says she's just sleeping she will wake up one day
on the bright side you are continuing your life which is probably what she would have wanted you to do.

I'm truely sorry to hear about your loss. A little retail therapy can at least take your mind off things for an hour or two, nice job.
We all need a little sunshine every now and then
