If you are new to Kingston, make sure you visit John's Deli on Princess Street near University. No coupons, but many deals on great local meat, olive oil, tomatoes, and super local produce. Nice bulk selection of some stuff, and often cheaper than bulk barn. Reasonable prices for sliced deli meats and premium cheeses too.

Not the place to do a full grocery shop however. They don't buy in the volume to compete with major stores, except they are usually cheaper than Metro at Princess and Barrie.

Their beef kabobs are excellent, although I usually take them off the skewers and cut a little smaller to go further, they are huge!

I heard an unpleasant rumour about this store, and I really hope it is not true. I was told that John's Deli has a reputation for dishonest pricing: the clerk weighing the meat would put his thumb on the scale to make it appear to weigh more, thereby raising the price. Not sure how to go about disproving this...
I think I will give them a try, anyway. Thanks for the recommendation!

I find that Kingston stores are putting out less and less coupons. Either that are with the increase in couponers, the coupons are just not lasting as long.

Try Metro, SDM or sometimes Foodland in Amherstview.

Loblaws and No frills usually only have their own coupons (coupon zone), but I've heard that on Saturdays sometimes they have reps in store with coupons so you could try that also.

Thanks for letting me know. I kind of figured this was the case, I wouldn't put it past the stores or the employees not even putting them out. To many people selling them on ebay making a profit or possibly submitting them fraudently. I heard a few reps have being monitoring this and hopefully it will work out in our favor in the near future.

Pitty, however I will check out the stores you suggested, I really would like to find some of the coupons I hear other SCr's talking about.

Oh, and re John's Deli... I think I've heard that rumour about every butcher at some point or other. John's is under new ownership in the past few years. What does happen is they often put quite a bit more on the scale and say "Is that alright?" They stopped doing it with me because I always made them put some back.

Update, took a trip to Foodland. They only had some cat food coupon save $1 WUB 4 lol, I dont have a cat oh well ill try fresco someday.

I recently passed by the Giant Tiger on Bath Road and the sign said they were having a closing blowout sale. It's too bad that it is shutting down, but I can't say that I was often there as it's in an awkward location. Has anyone been to there to check any deals? I'm hoping to go within the next couple of days to see what's available.

When I was there the deals were not all that terrific. Plus they aren't honoring the flyer prices because they're closing. I'm hoping when it gets closer to the closing date the prices will lower.

While I was shopping at Foodland on Tuesday, I noticed a rep with coupons! So, of course I took an extra long time shopping, hoping to score some coupons. BUT, she gave them to the manager, who took them upstairs. BOOOOO! Hopefully he puts them out.

Oh and I saw 6 empty coupon pads at Food Basics at the Frontenac Mall today so they must have had coupons and people just took them already. I can remember there were empty pads at the Fruit Roll Ups, etc Variety Packs display and on the Rockstar drink display. I can't remember the others though.
