I want to share a very recent experience, in case it helps anyone.
I tried to maintain a friendship with my ex because we have kids together. This was a HUGE mistake on my part.
Recently he went through my personal belongings and found out that I had moved on. He went ballistic.
I knew he was struggling, but I never realized how strong his dependency was.
I have once again had to tell him to move on and sort out his life, but when everything was happening, I found that I let myself slip back a bit, I let his threats weaken me and scare me.
I now know that there is no way I will be able to be friendly with him because it will not help him in moving on, and will just cause me more problems in the future.
Anyways, for people out there who are dealing with codependents, make sure you are strong and firm with them, trying to be nice will only let them feel as if there is hope, even when there is not.Last edited by i_forget; Thu, Aug 15th, 2013 at 09:40 AM.

Hi MTLCouponer,
I just want to say I'm sure it was a hard decision to make and how courageous I think you are to decide it's time to move on. Wishing you the best in the days ahead
SilkHave a great life!
