The !#@*%! downstairs that goes through the ceiling as soon as DD makes the littlest noise is driving me nuts ....
She was sliding off the couch and letting herself fall on the floor, as soon as I saw I stopped her but he was already banging on the ceiling like a psycho.
Then she's on all fours playing with a car that winds and she was going after it ... 4 steps and he's banging on the ceiling ...
Sooo hard that another guy downstairs came up to find out if DF was putting me through a wall and a couple people (half my floor) came out hearing us discuss the bottom neighbors crap and all said they heard that intense banging ...
Like WTF !!! She's 4 and you bang at the littlest step.. Yes we have to be careful but you're ALSO in an apartment and you ALSO gotta be lenient... You're not in a house therefore there may be kids upstairs ... You're not alone !This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by tasha313; Wed, Sep 18th, 2013 at 03:00 PM.

It sounds like he's the one making all the noise! Maybe you should complain to your building manager about the noisy guy living in the apartment beneath you. All your neighbours will back you up.

Sucks to have such a bad neighbour.
Equally sucky to have a building that would allow for noise to travel like that.
Do you have carpet in your apartment? If not, some area rugs might cut down on sound.

we r in the same situation with the tendant (holds back name calling) downstairs..
when we bought this apt we removed the carpet and installed laminate flooring but followed the strata's rules.. must have sound proofing foam bla bla bla\one day we got a letter saying that she can hear us walk around and she can track us through out the apartment and know where we are going or where we r at. she mentioned several things like:
1. us opening and closing our cup boards
2. a male urinating in the toilet
3. we run our dish washer too late at nite (we don't even use the dishwasher much MAYBE once a week
4. we do our laundry late at nite (lol we only do it on sundays)
5. when moping she can hear something scrap against the basboards
6. patio doors being too loud (sliding)
7. can hear us tenderizing meat
basically she said we should not make noise (basically stop living) or she will go to the strata
hubby decided ot go down and talk to her, she basiclly said stop or i'll go to the strata and make a formal complaint
hubby told her we will try, but we have a baby.
she continued with going to the strata phrase
we went to the building manage, and she said she has no right to send us letters like that, and that a letter will be sent to her saying to stop sending us letters.(but in the following weeks after that hubby found out that she writes a lot of these letters to other tendants in the building. eg. your car exhaust is too loud lol)
that was 7 or 8 months ago
then a few weeks ago we got a hand written note (this time her name not signed or anything) telling us to stop rolling things on the ground as it echos down her hall way into her bed room (DS loves to roll things on the ground and chase after em)
so i totally understand what u r going through.
after the first letter i really wanted to go downstairs and give her a piece of my mind saying if u don't wanna hear ur neighbors go buy a house or town house. etc etc
we brought the hand written note to the attention of the building manager agian but she said by law there isn't any the strata could do as she didn't sign her name or anything that says which unit she is in

hey, they can move! my building's the same way...we dont have concrete floors so you can hear the people above you....annoying, but thats what comes with living in a building like this! my neighbours above me are quite loud but im sure we are too, i just kind of got used to the sounds. put on headphones, or just ignore it :D
i even had a next door neighbour tell me she had taken the above neighbour to court over the noise they made...and guess what, not a damn thing happened! there are certain noises to be expected from...well....LIVING! and....they had kids who were making the noise, which i mean really, apparently even the courts said you cant do much about that!

Same issues here when we lived in an apt. Bought our own home asap and guess what! Same issues! Neighbor next door told us to quit fixing our house, ( example...using a hammer) because it bothered her!! What a nut! I told her to deal with it. Btw, any noise we made were well within the bylaw hours and never so much that anyone else in the neighborhood complained..some people are just nuts and have nothing better to do!

Oh man that sucks, I'm glad my apartment completely made from concrete, I can randomly hear neighbours sometimes if they really stomp or punch a wall (but it's concrete... ow) but otherwise it's quiet.
Except when they feel like blasting music, that seems to travel like crazy. I used to have a neighbour that would blast (c)rap until 3 am every day. They thankfully moved out rather quickly.

Him moving to a adult only building is a option.... we had one guy in our building who would keep his window open... every time a infant cried he would scream at another person's baby in another apartment.... he stopped after i yelled back right now i am hearing 2 babies.
I am on the bottom floor... easier access to get out in the event of a fire.... but that means i have to be and am prepared for some noise from upstairs... that is just how it works. It doesn't matter if it is a vacuum or a drill (they do vacuum every day) they are as entitled to live in their apartment as i am. They are pretty quiet overall... no bad music.... some rather vanilla love life stuff that makes me want to slide a tip sheet under their door and run like hell<< (that one was just to make tashie laugh) but over all they are not bad neighbors.

Sometimes I can guess the only goal in life of those ret*rd neighboors is to make trouble because they have no life...well....except talking all the day long in tel very lound, hide the garbage bins, close the doors hyper lound or just have their day the face in the window...no social life end to that...that annoy me..but they are juste people who I have pity for ..even not..not a reason to be nasty and act like a 2 years old child...kill me now if I am like that at 60 years old lol
