Home births freak me out too but I am a high risk pregnancy kind of girl.

I have five or six items off my buddy's list. My back is still out though(I seriously cannot move) so I am disappointed because I wanted to do 20x the points today.

Yah, I couldn't imagine. My "birth plan" (if anyone remembers about this time last year) was showing up at the hospital and saying "get this thing out of me" and my "pain management plan" was drugs.

I went to SDM and a couple hours of other stores, shopped on well.ca and have a fair bit of my buddies list now

I really wanted to do the 20x today, but let's be honest. I don't need anything, my buddy's list is already under control, and I was exhausted after sleeping 4 hours and then being at the mom to mom show for 8 am to set up.

K, Making this my one stop shop for all of my answers etc

Buddy, do you have a Keurig or Tassimo? Any requests?
Keurig at home, Tassimo at the cottage. I'd be cool with some different KCups to try so if you have any faves or a couple of samples would be cool, but I'm not huge on flavoured coffee. Strongly dislike pumpkin flavour.

Buddy, are gently used books/cds/movies OK?
Yes for me, no thanks for Alexa (she eats everything, so unless I can wash it, I try to stay away from sharing too many germs...I'm a bit of a germaphobe )

Buddy, is there anything from Epicure you'd like to try/restock?
I'm good thanks since I sell it! lol

Do you have a colour theme for Christmas?
Doing Christmasy colours this year. Reds, greens, and silver (not huge on gold in this house)

    Kids? Gender? Age?
Alexa, Girl, 1 on Oct 17

Are you crafty? Or a baker?
I like to craft when I have the time. Mostly knitting. I also like to cross stitch but haven't been able to get to it in quite a while. I like lots of crafts but am horrible for starting projects and not finishing them so I have tooooo many things on the go and not enough time.

Do you do holiday entertaining at your house or do you go elsewhere?
Home this year. We've always driven around but this year, with Alexa, we've decided we're starting a new tradition My parents and brother, and Don's mom/step dad are coming here Christmas.

Do you decorate the outside of your home?
Not sure how to answer this. Don bought stuff last year to decorate, but never put it up. I'd like to put a new wreath up (wintery so it can stay past Christmas).

Do you listen to holiday music? What kind?
Christmas CD is on my WL

    Do you hang stockings?
    Sure do!

Buddy - I was on the baking train and sent a brownie mix, would you like to try it? You'd have to add an egg and some oil but I'm told it's pretty good.

Sure, sounds good. As long as it's not super tricky, cause I suck.

    Buddy did you forget anything??
    Yah, obviously. Stay tuned...

Buddy, is there anything you’d like from the Body Shop?
Uhhhh...no, cause I'm all about shopping there when I get great deals so....totally stocked. Thanks though

    Slowcooker?

Yup - I have two. I'd love some good recipes for stuff I can make in it. I've had mixed experiences with new recipes. I prefer to make things where I can use actual spices/ingredients though as opposed to recipes that call for "Kraft Marinade" or whatever.

    Nails?
    Obsessively so

    Fave Colour
blues and teals, greys, white and black

    eReader?

Kobo/Kindle app on my ipad and phone

    Additional WL Items:
    Stocking Stuffers – Alexa
    - Baby toothbrush for a 1 year old (not the finger kind…looks like a regular toothbrush scaled down. Currently has one by Oral B)
    - PC Brand Organics Veggie Corn Puffs
    - Socks (she’s currently wearing size 6-12 months. Her feet don’t match the length of her body lol)
    - Bib that has sleeves built in (like a backwards shirt)
    - Fridge magnets or something to play with on the fridge?
    Stocking Stuffers – Donnie
    - Milk duds
    - Donnie likes Star Wars (especially Darth Vader!) and Lego so anything small with that as a theme. He has the Lego Darth Vader key chain though.
    - He also enjoys the Muppets (Sometimes you can get the dvds cheap at Walmart or Amazon or something. I know we have the newest one and the Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets in Space I think).
    - Just saw some awesome Pezz dispensers
    - Funky socks
Stuff for me! (let’s say this is “Pamper” stuff )
    - Here’s my Nail Polish WL J http://www.nailpolishcanada.com/wish...ishlistid=7148
    - PJ Pants (either flannel, cotton, or modal are great – size med/large)
    - Jewelery cleaner
    - Bracelets (I like to have ‘wrist parties’ with different bracelets/bangles). Fave colours are teals, blues, silver, black. Here’s an idea of what I mean https://rireboutique.com/image/cache...e1-500x650.jpg
    - If you’re at all crafty, I’d love something like this on stretchy elastic to add to my ‘wrist parties’ http://www.stelladot.com/shop/en_us/...retch-bracelet

Dh said he was taking me shopping today after our walk at Fish Creek. Yep, he took me shopping for an old camper van....really old....like almost 40 years old, lol. It was pretty neat but needs too much work and it would be a bit tight with the two dogs. I did manage to go to SDM but got sidetracked by a band that was doing a sound check in the parking lot (for the CIBC Run For The Cure tomorrow). They were amazing! Does anyone else here cry when they hear incredibly good live music ? I've been like that since I was a kid...dh can't take me to any live shows, lol.

I took the c-train for the very first time yesterday since moving here. I didnt' realize how fast it can get me downtown. Shopping for my buddy is going teach me more about the city at the same time .

So, with the help of my daughter, I did get to SDM after all. I actually went for the Kobo that was in the flyer but I am right now typing on my new Google Nexus 7. It was cheaper than anywhere else around here and I made 60 000 points today between it and my other stuff.

Thought I'd pipe in from the peanut gallery...
i am so pro midwifery care, that I couldn't just sit this one out. It's an opportunity to spread the word on this wonderful service that we have available to us.

Midwifery care really only allows for home births in healthy pregnancies. If it were high risk, then home birth would probably be discouraged by the midwife and healthcare team. I hear your concerns, and I know that the concept of home birth is daunting as sometimes what we know little about often is. But that being said, I pulled this from the midwives ontario website.

"When discussing home birth, your midwife will provide you with research-based information. She will address any questions or concerns you have, and will support any decision you make. Where you decide to have your baby is your choice. About 25-30% of midwifery clients in Ontario plan a home birth.

Research demonstrates that home birth is at least as safe as hospital birth. Since 1994, when midwifery was regulated in Ontario, midwives have attended over 25,000 home births, and attend about 3,000 annually. Midwives are trained to provide all the necessary care and support that you will need at your home birth. The equipment they bring along with them to home births is equivalent to what would be found in a community hospital, including oxygen, medications to stop bleeding and sterile instruments."

    See more at: http://www.ontariomidwives.ca/care/b....qHDOCTiR.dpuf

both my girls were born at home, in water (birthing pool) au naturale, it was safe, clean, beautiful, and it was never scary. it was a phenomenal experience that cannot be matched.
I'm not saying that this is for everyone, but it's an option, and that's what's important-supporting women in their rights to informed choice and decision making related to their birth planning wherever/whenever possible.
