Oh my goodness! Can you call the police for something like that? or some kind of web police?? The police might know stuff of people in the neighbourhood being watched or stalked or whatever..I would call and find out if they know already..
That is so scary I can't even think about it. I am really sorry that happened to you and thank you for taking the time to share this awful experience. Please be safe and thinking of you. Yuk!!!

This stuff has been happening for years. Now most people take their phones with them... and most people don't cover up their phone cameraS Yes there is a bold S on that because with face time and other apps so people can make visual calls you need cameras. New phones have cameras on the front and back and they usually connect to the wifi in your house. I keep cameras covered... so does my daughter.
Vesper talks of a day when for the sake of safety your house can be accessed via cameras... anything a government can hack into hackers can too. Want a list of devices that can be hacked... camera's for a security system, cell phones, laptops, desktop computer cameras, tablets have cameras too, some game stations have technology so advanced that it can recognise you by the way you move... or even a elbow.
Am I paranoid?... hell no... this stuff is already out there i am just listing it off. I know techs... loopholes are left in all of these types of devices that allows them to be accessed by the manufacture for repairs and to check to see if your using legit copies of things like windows... even if you turn off remote assistance (and you should) the loop hole still exists for those that are so inclined to try and get into.
Have I ever been hacked?... sure twice that i know of... 11 years ago I was... i had software that listed off every ip that pinged and i narrowed it down to one and contacted a isp... the woman that did it instantly lost her internet.
The second time was in the last 2 months... someone hacked my wifi... that gives you instant connection to any computer or device on the network... they knew enough to change the password on my router to blocking me and my daughter from getting back on the internet... first my laptop wouldn't access the wifi and after doing all the problem solving stuff i still couldn't get on... except on one of my desk tops... but my daughter's laptop was fine and so was her phone... so i rebooted the router... after the reboot my daughter couldn't get back on the wifi even when it was back up... but my desktop could... i reset the router again to factory original passwords and went to my desktop computer and changed my passwords to extremely long passwords... well over 40 characters. I can only say since then I have been educating myself in some computer stuff to keep people off my network and pc's. They will not like me much if they try again.
For the most part things like bits n bytes software really helps with online attacks. Doing one antivirus scan is never enough... 2 or 3 are better... deleting cookies helps a great deal... ccleaner works fantastic at not only deleting cookies it deletes browser cookies too... tune up up utilities helps repair small things in your computer.
I have tried and stopped using swagbucks. They use a invasive tool bar that likes to creep into way too many places on your computer. It is a search conduit type of toolbar. If you go through your computer in the add remove program it should remove it right? Nope it doesn't. After removing it from there it still has to be removed from program files... (program files (X 86) on my pc) Is it gone then.. no your web pages still display it so you have to go into the tools on every one of your web browsers like chrome or internet explorer and remove it in up to 3 locations in EACH browser. I had to find youtube to teach me how to get it fully off my pc. To me it is a excessively invasive program I will not have on my pc. I have found many versions of this program out there and they really slow your computer down. I am not a techie but if one program is overly invasive and slows your computer down it is probably accessing too much info that you don't want it accessing. Just my thoughts.Swagbucks, Earn 30 - $50 a month in surveys plus cash backs on your spending. You have to work at it, but it is WORTH it and it can help you buy some Christmas presents for free with Amazon gift cards or paypal payments. Referral link http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/cheekysaver

It absolutely can. Some are a little harder than others but it can be done. If you have a detachable webcam, the best thing is to unplug it when not in use. If it's built in, covering it is a good idea when not in use. If you don't use it at all, the best thing is to disable it completely by removing the actual camera software.

I got it a few years back too, my laptop camera has an activated light so I noticed it right away but it taught me to cover it up just in case
