I was in a car accident yesterday (only one in my car, and no one was injured badly, I got lots of bruising from the seatbelt/steering column, but okay otherwise)
But since I had the carseat in the back, I need to buy a new one. My daughter is 2 and forward facing, my car was a 2009 honda civic, and if I don't get it back, I'm still looking at getting another one. I don't want anything too bulky, and love the surelatch system.
So I am looking for recommendations on what would be easy to install, comfy for her, and no more than $300. I live in Nova Scotia, so usually shop at Walmart, CT, Costco and Toys/Babies r us.

Absolutely you don't use the one that was in the accident, whether there was a kid in it or not at the time. I doubt they will give it back even though she was not in it (thank God).
It's been some time since my DS was in a car seat, but even four years ago I think most seats have the latch system.
Lots of folks recommend Britax, but I think they're really overpriced, not much better if at all than others that cost much less.
We had an Eddie Bauer that was convertible to a booster seat once they got big enough to get rid of the five point harness. Unfortunately the booster idea didn't work out well for us, our DS was too tall shortly after the time he could get out of the five point harness and we went to a backless one. We still use that, although he's more than big and tall enough I think to go without. He's nearly five feet tall and 90 pounds, but it's the law until he's nine, so he's in it until he's nine.
Contact the Child Safety Link office at the IWK, they may have recommendations. They connected our car seat when we brought DS home, and also advised us when we converted to the booster.

Was in a fender bender beginning of September.
DS was not in the car and t was not serious, but as per the law I had to turn in my carseat.
I did a bit of shopping around for the new carseat as I wanted something that would last me until DS was ready to sit on his own. Finally settled on the fisher price safe voyage. I am incredibly happy with it too! Our last one was just a Cosco brand because it was all I could afford at the time.

It's a 3 in 1 high back booster seat with harness.
It also matches the red and black seat covers in the car as well lol!
I bought it at walmart and it was under $150.
MPI reimbursed me the cost of the carseat though since my other one had to be taken.
