I think the same person got mad with me when i brought up that it was wrong to teach people to use more than 1 cascades 2.00 coupon in one transaction and at the same time rely on a cashier to not read or follow through with the 'one coupon per customer'.
To me the what defines a CUSTOMER is any person that walks through the door of a store, takes an item from a place in the store, STANDS IN LINE, and purchases the item. A person can be a customer multiple times by repeating the process. Now if the coupon stated one per PERSON then it dosnt matter what the person does (ex go through line, go to different stores ect) you will always be a person.
Taking advantage of a cashier not reading a coupon fully is absolutley wrong and endangers that cashiers livley hood. If a cashier at walmart is found to be not reading the coupon and following through with it they will be written up. Now just imagine a person working for a huge corperate store that could care less about thier employees and the mah and pah shops in that area, hang thier head in shame cause a couponer wanted a deal. Thinking of this makes me sick.
To me it is coupon abuse (FRAUD) if a couponer knowingly goes against what the CUSTOMER REDEMPTION PROCEDURE is. One of the main rules to redeem a coupon is to read the couopon fully. Never have i seen so much tollerated coupon abuse.Last edited by legnacoupon; Thu, Nov 7th, 2013 at 02:05 PM.

I used 6 cascade coupons the other day in one transaction... but there was 6 of us as customers. So we used it according to what it said. The cascade coupon puts "only one coupon per customer" in the "to the dealer" section. There is no consumer section like found on other coupons.... its the cashiers responsibility to read the coupon including the section relating to the dealer.

Great job! to me thats following what the coupons says. Now if you were one person with 6 coupons tryng to redeem in one transaction without anyone else and relying on the cashier to not read it then that wouldnt be unethical.
Now when it comes to the sections of the coupon ('to dealer' 'to customer') all parts of the coupon must be read by the redeemer even in the 'to dealer' section becuase like you said the 'one coupon per customer' is in that section which is about the person redeeming the coupon. The specified product, restrictions and expiry usualy also are not in any section.
I 100% agree that its the responsibilty of a cashier to to fully read a coupon. Although a couponer must also fully read the coupon as well. Since we all know we must fully read a coupon to understand the redemption process then that should eleminate relying on a cashier to fully read it. I know for myself and most people we like to not be declined in using a coupon due to the wording on it so we can plan our shops accordingly.
Mistakes do happen. Sometimes a person dosnt fully read a coupon. This usually happens with new couponers. A mistake is a mistake and hopefuly we all learn from our mistakes. But when you knowingly go against the wording it is considered fraud and unethical. I dont want any fellow human being be negitivley affected by my couponing practices. I have morals and i stick to them. I write these posts in hopes that it will instill stronger morals to tne people who rely on a cashier to NOT fully read a coupon and take advantage of that.

I think we are venturing into the same debate that has happened many times and a great example is Zantac Coupon which states "one per customer" but a number of places are allowing people to use more than one. I have been told by many different people my local Wal-Mart will accept multiple of this coupon, personally I buy one box at a time still. But who is right and who is wrong is the person wrong for doing it to get the overage or is the cashier wrong for not reading? Personally I feel both are responsible, but at the end of the day the debate continues.

Hmm to me I define a customer as the person who is actually paying for the shopping transaction. So for me even if I shop and stand in line at the till with my hubby, if the coupon says one per customer I only use one coupon cause only one of us is paying the bill...
I guess one could also argue that you can use the same coupon at other stores cause you are a customer at each store. Now as for the "one coupon per person" some would say once u redeem it then that's it regardless of which store since u are one person doesn't matter where. On the other hand, some would argue that there's no way of knowing if you redeemed the coupon more than once if you make separate shopping trips. I think the confusion lies on the fact that there is no standard definition of what a customer/person is. Maybe the retail council of Canada or the manufacturers should make it clear. Same goes for all the coupon restriction wordings. It needs to be standardized.
this is just my humble opinion thnx

It can both ways as far as one per customer being one EVER, I received 5 x $2 coupons from a complaint, on them they said one per customer, but they sent me five, so they expect me to use 5 right, but one at a time.
As far as the stores, they have expected quotas of coupons being used compared to orders. If they order 500 of a product and take in 100 coupons for the same product, it s it as being above the normal use. I am sure they consider sales etc but normal redemption of coupons is fairly low (I have seen estimates of 3-6%) so anything higher than that and they may ask the store for their receipts for those purchases or deny the reimbursement

I used to work as a cashier at CT and we were fforved to read the couon if it said one per anything we split the order. We also had to print avopynof the receipt for each and every coupon. If we took 5 diffrent coupons we printef 5 copies and attached each copy to one coupon. I just always assumed this was how all stores had to do it to get reimbursed.

Clearly manufactures don't pay attnetion to how stores accept coupons. A prime example would be stores that allow stacking. A store like SOF that used to allow stacking would accept 3 (maybe more) separate coupons for 1 product. When you look at the coupons vs the product sold it's going to a 3:1 ratio. The stores get reimbursed for this which in my own personal opinion wrong.
