3D is pretty much a novelty - but it seems like one that is here to stay regardless...

Here's the thing... if you like 3D movies in the theatre, your experience at home should be that much better.

Keep in mind that in order to watch 3D content, you will also need a 3D capable blu-ray player and a set of 3D glasses compatible with the TV you bought. As well, 3D movies to buy on Blu-ray are about $5-$10 more than their 2D counterpart also, and most rental locations don't rent 3D versions.

There hasn't been much in the way of 3D content in broadcast programming, aside from a sample channel or two and the occasional pay-per view movie. Regardless the promise that was made, this has been the case for the past 5 or so years -- so I don't figure it's going to change much.

So now consider if that additional hardware is worth the investment. If you can accept that your 3D viewing will be mostly limited to 3D Blu-ray movies that you buy, and you enjoy it that much then go for it.

Even if you DONT enjoy 3D, many 3D capable TVs are better technically than their 2D counterparts. This might be a consideration for you as well. And if you LATER decide you want to add 3D to the mix (with a 3D Blu-ray player, and buy the 3D glasses) your TV will already be capable.

If you're going to drop a couple grand on a TV, Maybe it's worth forking out a couple hundred dollars more just for the enhanced TV, and for future expansion.

I recommend you 3D TV because i have 3D TV of Sony company and i can't explain the feeling of watching movies in 3D. It gives realistic views and effects that is amazing to watch.
