Maybe she gave one away and seeing Mariah, reminded her of the other. That is why she may not have spent so much time with Mariah --> guilt over the other twin given away and gilt over her failure as a mother

No...not necessary.
Sharon was very poor, with a disable Single Mom, from a poor part of town.
So it stands to reason that medical care during her teenage pregnancy was little to none, especially since she planned to give the baby up for adoption once born.
So it is possible that she was pregnant with twins and didn't know it, especially as this woman (Mariah Mom) is an OB nurse, and was probably the one who deliver them.

Cassie/Mariah started the role when she was 7, so it's horrible to watch her grow up on the show, and now 17 years later see her get into a romantic affair with the man who was her Dad. BIG BIG ICK.....
