Okay so I'm a little new to shopping at SDM so I was wondering how the special offers work with coupons.
So using this Saturday's offer of spend $50 and get a $10 Timmy's GC as an example: I was just wondering if I have to spend $50 AFTER using my coupons, or is it the total BEFORE using (manufacturer's) coupons?

    Thanks in advance!

Okay nevermind, I just answered my own question by searching google duuhhr..Sorry folks! So yeah the answer I found was that it has to be $50spent AFTER any coupons. Darn! I don't see why though *sigh, coupons are supposed to be treated like cash, they get reimbursed for it anyway...

You're at the mercy of cashiers decision to give you a Tim Hortons gift card and they don't see coupons as cash.

You're right Kuraizie, I was wondering the same thing about that, thinking I could use $50 in coupons and get all those extra points. I checked Shoppers coupon policy and it says in it that if you're using coupons on those 20x OP days it's the total you spend after coupons, it sucks especially if you have lots of FPC to use.

In my experience the only time you won't get your bonus points is with free product coupons. For instance on the last spend 50.00 get 8000 bonus points event I spent 50.00 before coupons but my total after coupons before tax was less than 50.00. I still got the 8000 bonus points as well as the regular points on my full value before coupons. The system calculates coupons as cash so you get points/bonus points based on them. The only exception is free product coupons because they are entered in with a different code and you don't even pay tax on those.

It's in the coupon policy that it has to be $50.00 after coupons, regardless of the coupons your using. Just because it worked at one Shoppers doesn't mean that's how it is or that it's right.

This is from the Shoppers Drug Mart coupon policy

Coupons may not be accepted as a form of tender(e.g. for Shoppers Optimum Promotions where a customer would need to spend $50 to receive 20x the Shoppers Optimum Points, if a coupon was used, the value of the coupon would be deducted and does not count toward the promotion total)

Yeah, unfortunately it's after coupons, that's why I never go to SDM for these deals personally. It's just not worth it for me, unless I can get $50 of stuff that I would be buying anyways and for the same price or cheaper then elsewhere.

Right except that has been their policy for years and yet it has for all those years and still does end up that the computer gives you the points based on the total before coupons. I have done it numerous times and if you go into the SDM subforum here on smart canucks you'll see it's like that for everyone. The coupon policy and the people you talk to will all say no, and yet the computer does it every time. (Except as I said in the case of free product coupons where you don't pay tax either).

Actually, it's not the cashiers anymore, the new system tells cashiers whether or not a promo should be issued, based on Shoppers Policy.
