Hey men and lawncare experts, help me out?

We just had a full day of rain in the 'Shwa.
You can see the streets are wet.
You can see the beads of water on the grass.
There's a guy in the 'hood MOWING his lawn!

Now, I'm no expert, but doesn't this ruin the lawnmower and isn't this bad for the grass? Am I wrong here?

    Thanks for your opinion.

if the ground isn't mucky, then mow away

maybe his lawn really needs cutting, and he really needs to get it done today for some reason.

i was going to do mine today and it's been raining, i just didn't have the energy tho

It will clog up your lawn mower, making mowing more difficult, you'd have to stop to unclog it more often. If you've got a mulching mower, I think it would be more likely to leave big gobs of grass that would turn yellow rather than sprinkling your cuttings over your lawn. And I sure as heck wouldn't do it with an electric mower!

Personally, I'm a huge fan of a 'reel' mower. We got one a couple of years ago; it's as easy to push as an electric one IMO. It doesn't throw rocks at your children or threaten to cut off your fingers or toes. It doesn't make a roaring noise and make your neighbours hate you at 7 a.m., it makes a pleasant whirring sound. Only thing is, you must mow regularly. If your grass gets too long, it will push it over rather than cutting. And I never rake up the grass, it settles right into the lawn and nourishes the other grass.

It'll clog, and possibly rust the blade faster.

    I want a rolly-mower, they seem fun!

I feel like you Shwa Girl, why would you chance it on wet grass??

A few years ago one of my customers was doing that with an electric mower but it was still actually coming down! ( the rain )
I ran up to him flailing my arms for him to stop, and he did not speak English it seems so I am trying to " sign " language by shaking my head NO and pointing to the mower and pointing to the sky, OMG I thought for sure this guy was gonna electrocute himself. He stopped and went inside the house, HE probably thought I was nuts and wanted to escape, lol.

    LOUD.
    Mama Mia!

@Zonny. You are correct. The mower clogged and was restarted a few times. Thought that woulda been a hint by --- NO.

@walkonby, you did a good deed warning the man about getting zapped, even if he didn't understand your flailing arms. lol.

@Canadianbella, you are right. Rust is a problem.

Zonny and Canadianbella, do you have a small lawn? Just ask because the rolling mower is a lot of work on a big lawn IMO.
