We were so excited did the 50,000 redemption and actually got something for us - we got the Sony blue Ray that we need so we can get Netflix and stuff and of course some other things!!! Got home Hubby started to figure it out and we didn't realize it isn't WIFI - we are not techies just old farts!!! Then Hubby reads on facebook NEVER get anything like that from SDM as they won't let u return it if you open it - so how are u suppose to check it out without opening it - and where is the non returnable disclosure??? So friggin upset!!!! SAved all those points for nothing!!!

I would check the Sony website.
They may have an online manual you can download or view to see if it has information you need for installation, features etc.
Here is a link for support/manuals etc.. http://esupport.sony.com/CA/
I have never bought electronic items, with the exception of a clock radio, this boxing day at SDM. I asked the store manage what their policy is if you open the box, don't like the item or doesn't work . She said 30 days. Each SDM may have different policies (I don't know why, they should all be the same).Last edited by toban; Sat, Dec 28th, 2013 at 06:24 PM.

While we haven't bought anything from SDM, I'm also looking at buying something we can use to connect the TV to Netflix (the something could include a new TV). I'm fairly techy, but not with TVs and Netflix, so I'm confused too.
The SDM policy applies here too, in that you can't return things if you open it. If you open it and it doesn't work you're SOL, you deal with the manufacturer after that. And I think that is sucky customer service, so I will not buy anything electronic there. More and more, I don't buy anything there, it's too much of a hassle to justify any points.

Yeah, that's the one thing about SDM - the official policy is no returns, it's up to individual stores whether or not they will allow a return. When I bought my Nintendo Wii there was no mention of it - but when I bought my Nexus the cashier make sure she told me and that I understood I could not return it under any circumstances. I made sure to do my research first on both products before I bought them.
You could probably still sell it on Kijiji if you can't use it.
For future reference - it will say right on the box if it's wifi capable or not (there's usually a symbol if no wording).

+1, I have encountered a lot of problems regarding Returns to SDM. They are Brand New never opened items. Heard quite an earful from the cashiers. That's why more and more I also just don't buy anything.

i second toban, i was looking at the sony blueray thing too and asked the cashier about open box return and she said 30 days, in the box in saleable condition. with all the shopping i've done at SDM over the past year I wouldn't be surprised if the policy changes by the cashier let alone by the store. Try calling the store you bought it from if you don't know their policy, this is from the website
Return Exclusions with limited exceptions
Electronics
Returns will only be given if original product is returned in the original sealed box in saleable condition with a receipt and within the 30 day return period from original date of purchase
In some instances you may be required to deal directly with the manufacturer.

Ive returned sh*t anyway!
I've returned crap headphones - actually I returned 3 crap pairs in a row that all did the same thing, each time being told they were final sale.
I also returned an open box Wii mini when I realized it didn't have internet.
If it's the same bluray player I'm thinking of, someone gifted that one to a family member of mine as well and DH spent lots of $$ getting compatible cables so this thing can even be hooked up to an older t.v. Probably paid more for the cables than the player!Last edited by r0c0upons; Mon, Dec 30th, 2013 at 09:25 AM.

I bought a Lloyd's clock radio on Boxing Day at SDM. I decided I didn't like it because the numbers were way too large. Jan.2nd I returned it (with packaging, manual etc) to SDM. I told the cashier the reason for the return. There was not issues, problems with the return.

If you just want Netflix pick up a Roku! We have three in our house and love them! Super easy to set up and very easy to use. The Roku 3 sells for about $100 but you can get the Roku 1 or 2 for well under $100. Any video streaming box will do for Netflix. Walmart, Target, Best Buy....they all sell a variety of streaming devices.
