Okay, 90% off Christmas Clearance at Target has GOT to be coming!
I've been checking Target daily, and it's still at 70% off. In the US, some Target stores had 90% off yesterday, with the rest following suit today (January 4). They say that this markdown happened last year in the US on Saturday, January 5.
Since it's our first after-Christmas clearance in Canada, we don't really know what to expect, so I'm hoping that people can post to this thread to alert us all to the change in sale percentage if (and I hope it's just WHEN) they see it! I've been obsessively reading different threads looking for any mention of a change, and I think it would be easier for everyone to post it in one place.
Seems like there's a lot of "hidden" Christmas clearance (bakeware, lip gloss sets, curling irons, anything with a Christmas theme) at Target in the US that gets marked down automatically by the computer to 70%-90% off. People in the US are scanning those items to see if they're included in the 70% and 90% off. It appears that stores in Canada just use clearance tags for those same items, resulting in a slower drop in the clearance prices.
They did have a big 50% off wave of clearance on toys here just before Christmas, followed by a second wave just around boxing day. I noticed today that a lot of the clearance toys were being put in one 50% off clearance section of the toy department, (they weren't all together like that yesterday) so maybe they're planning a 70% markdown on them soon.
I did find some really nice 24-piece floor puzzles in the bargain zone near the door today. The box was quite heavy, so the pieces must be pretty thick. The original price on these was $3, but they were 70% off, making them $0.90 each. They also had boxed mini Slinkies for $0.30 each. Nice loot bag gifts!
