I have bought Groupons, Wag Jag, etc.....

I find the business I buy for seem to be annoyed when I redeem.
    What has your experience been?

I buy from Groupon, Deal find and Team buy regularly. There are so many good deals to be had. I have only had 1 problem with a greenhouse and that's cause they sold far too many cpns and ran out of stock. When I went to use my cpn there was nothing left. I contacted Team buy and was refunded my money within 3 business days. If I ever have any doubts about a "buy" I call the company directly and get clarification before I buy it. I think it is a great way to save money on things I'd otherwise not buy or afford.

So far, I've had positive experiences with the daily deals that I've bought.
The one comment that I've heard is that often people who buy deals for restaurants either assume tips are included or tip their server on a really discounted amount. Tips are entirely subjective, but I know that many of the people I know in the restaurant industry really rely on tips, so when someone has a 'groupon' and then doesn't leave a tip based on the bill total, they still have to 'tip-out' to the other staff based on their total sales.

Be careful of the expiry dates on them. I have found the ones for golf courses are readily accepted.

I haven't had any issues, wagjag are a little slow to send the vouchers so not good if you want to use it that week but other than that, I have not noticed a reduction in CS using them

redeemed 2 wagjag for a local restaurant - the waitresses were great about it. And I did tip on the full price of the meal. I have a groupon for a local attraction - haven't use that one yet.
Collecting Campbell's soup labels for our school RAKs greatly appreciated.
    Using WagJag for great deals!

I've made at least six purchases from Teambuy. Only one gave me any problem, a $20 voucher for Edible Arrangements. When I went to redeem it, the clerk insisted that her manager had told her that you had to spend over $50, although that was nowhere in the deal. I bought it anyhow because it was my anniversary (the lowest priced item over $50 was $69). I contacted the manager after the fact, who had kind of a 'so what' attitude. I contacted Teambuy and they gave me $10 'teambucks' for my trouble. It totally wasn't their fault, but they still made an effort to make it right.

Every other buy has worked out great!

No problems at all. Groupon and WagJag have been awesome for me.

I just heard that the government considers purchases from Groupon etc. to be "gift cards" so are an investigating. A law was passed in all provinces awhile ago making it illegal for gift cards to expire so companies like Groupon will have to change to no expiry or face getting sued.

I used a $15 WaggJagg at a small smoothie shop, but got the feeling the owner/server was kind of annoyed about me using it.

I have only had one problem... A restaurant for which I bought an offer (from Kahoot) closed before I used the offer. Kahoot was great and gave me a credit on my account the same day I notified them of the problem.

The only other thing I would say is to watch out for restaurants that have separate set menus for when you redeem one of these offers. I got burned by one of those - the meal was okay, but the set menu had waaay less variety (and offered less value for money) than the regular menu; it was a similar menu, but minus all of the best sounding (and pricier) dishes.

I redeemed a groupon at Clearly Contacts for a pair of glasses. I was going to expire in a week. I didn't like the glasses and called to ask if I could return them. No problem, I was sent out a postage paid sticker to put on the box and the girl on the phone said my money would be put back in my PayPal account and the $60 groupon would be returned as a credit on my Clearly Contacts account, good for a year. Can't beat that for great customers service!

I have experienced a few employees who have no idea what to do with the credit, but otherwise nothing bad to say at all!
