So, using some coupons I found here and printed and some from the paper, we went grocery shopping last night. We shop at Superstore so I hit up their coupon wall as well, and had a small stack. I was honestly sooooo excited! lol
So, everything went pretty well, I couldn't find a few items and few had a different ct on the coupon than they carry in the store, which was a bit confusing for me, but I carried on.
When we got up to the till I asked the woman if she would like the coupons right away and showed her them, she did not seem very happy with me, rolled her eyes and grabbed them. She stopped scanning and carefully read each and every coupon. She argued with me about using more than one coupon per brand, though not for the same item, for example, I had three coupons for different Glad products, I used all three, she didn't want to let me. She called the manager who said it was fine. Is it normally allowed?
She made me sort through each thing that I had a coupon for and set it aside, she then had to call a manager to come over and help her scan the coupons because it wouldn't let her??
The line was so backed up, I felt horribly about keeping everyone in line, I was that annoying person that everyone hates lol
Is this all common? Do they scrutinize every coupon all the time? Do all cashiers hate people that use coupons? And if so, why??
In the end, we saved $30 and got the $25 gift card, which was better than I thought we'd do, since I didn't feel like we had that many coupons.

I'm really interested in getting tips for what to do in the future, I don't want to hold up an entire line, my fiance and I were a little bit mortified as people gave us dirty looks and grew impatient. Which stores are best, etc.

Don't get frustrated. I find if i keep a positive attitude and put thing on the belt in an organized fashion, (coupon items either first or last) I can keep the Cashier on my side. I think shows like Extreme Couponing are giving couponing a bad name. I am in it to save money for my family of 6 and not to gouge the store.

The first few times is always nerve racking but over time you grow more confident and you learn which cashiers are going to work with you and which ones are going to fight every word on the coupons. I always thank the cashiers for their patience at the end of my transaction no matter how well it went, its kinda my last shot at the rude ones and my honest appreciation for the awesome ones. Keep at it and you will find in a few months it just doesnt seem to bother you as much anymore

RCSS tills have a limit of $10.00 and over the manager has to do an override on each coupon after. PITA in my and all the cashiers I've dealt with minds.

Yeah, dont let cashiers get under your skin. I am never sure why anyone hates taking coupons. If stores wont take them than why do you put them out in the first place. its not like they dont get that money. If cashiers dont like dealing with coupons than maybe they need to look at getting another job. Company didnt hire them to give hard time to customers. What happened to me and my husband has nothing to do with couponing but in SuperStore we wanted to get in line and we get to this one cashier who was just finishing with the customer. She has nothing on the conveyor belt, so I came closer and was about to start unloading my cart. She freaked out on me. She was all rolling her eyes and saying line 13 is open go there. I am closed... blah blah blah... I looked at her and was wondering if she actually missed her medication today. She was crazy. I am almost positive that most of the cashiers hate their jobs and only want to do the minimum. So when you show up with 100s of coupons it means they have to do extra and above... I hate those impolite cashiers.
