YAY - NPH to host Oscars!

LOS ANGELES – Neil Patrick Harris is going for an awards-show trifecta, set to host the 2015 Oscars after four hosting stints at Broadway’s Tony Awards and two at TV’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

The 41-year-old entertainer announced his Oscar gig online Wednesday. He posted a video on Twitter of him on the phone saying, “I’m in,” then showing a close-up of his bucket list and circling “Host the Oscars.”

I think if you really look at Renee's face the only thing different is she has let her eyebrows grow out. I think she really just aged and is thinner. Maybe some botox but I m not so quick to say plastic surgery.

I saw this side by side yesterday also and I think it was ET or TMZ but they said the pics. were 10 years apart. No matter, she definitely does look different but she seems to be o.k. with it.

Wonder what the heck happened? He was off the air for a while because his dad passed away earlier in the month, but he's been back since.

Jian Ghomeshi, host of Q, no longer with CBC


CBC's relationship with Jian Ghomeshi, host of the cultural affairs radio show Q, has ended, the network announced Sunday.

"The CBC is saddened to announce its relationship with Jian Ghomeshi has come to an end. This decision was not made without serious deliberation and careful consideration. Jian has made an immense contribution to the CBC and we wish him well," the network said in a statement.
CBC ended its ties with Ghomeshi earlier on Sunday, said spokesman Chuck Thompson.

"Information came to our attention recently that in CBC's judgment precludes us from continuing our relationship with Jian," Thompson told CBC News.

Thompson would not elaborate on how recently the CBC had discovered the information or what that information was.

"Whenever a decision is made to end a relationship with an employee, terms of separation are never disclosed," Thompson said.

On Friday, Ghomeshi announced that he was taking some "much needed personal time" away from the CBC.

"Thanks for all the well wishes, you guys," he tweeted Friday. "I'm OK."

Dentons Canada LLP, a law firm in Toronto, released a statement saying that Ghomeshi has instructed them to file a $50-million lawsuit against the CBC on Monday that "will claim general and punitive damages for among other things, breach of confidence and bad faith."

It added that he will also "commence grievance for reinstatement under the CBC’s collective agreement."

Gordie Howe suffers serious stroke


Hockey legend Gordie Howe has partial paralysis and is having trouble speaking after suffering a stroke on Sunday.
The 86-year-old Howe was admitted to hospital but is now resting at his daughter's home in Texas. He is able to recognize family members and is aware of his surroundings.
"Basically, sometime in the early morning on Sunday he suffered a pretty bad stroke," Howe's son, Dr. Murray Howe told the Detroit News. "The right side of his body is very, very weak. He's unable to stand without help. He's able to speak, but very, very difficult to speak.
"He knows who he is. He knows the people around him. But it is very difficult for him to get up and walk around. So he is pretty much confined to his bed right now. So we're just trying to keep him comfortable, and that's our goal," added Howe, who heads the department of radiology at Toledo Hospital.
The 86-year-old Howe played 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings from 1946 to 1971, winning four Stanley Cups, six Hart Trophies and six Art Ross Trophies.
After being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, he came out of retirement in 1973 and later played for the Hartford Whalers in 1979-80, thus becoming the first Hall of Famer to play in the NHL.
"Wishing my friend Gordie Howe all the best, you're in all of our thoughts and prayers," Prime Minister Stephen Harper tweeted from his verified account on Tuesday.
