I remember swimming under the docks.. the chemical from underneath would burn our faces.. LOL good times. But I get your fear of diving from the high platform.. We had one in Allegany. We had to be able to swim front crawl out to the concrete dock if we wanted to go out.. damn if I'm gonna swim all that way and not jump.. those were the best days of my life!!

Loocie is planning to bake a cake to share with my 2 sons,
It’s been 29 years that I proudly joined the ranks that we call Moms,
The passage of time become milestones, our very own family history,
Events carved with vivid recollection; to me there is no mystery,
My #1 son’s early arrival weighing inat less than 4 pounds,
& how I barely slept a wink, listening for baby sounds,
Hard to believe that they are men who grew up tried & true,
We’ve endured some challenging events, but we always came straight thru!
My boys have always inspired me & we’ve had some stellar times,
& the pair of them have been victims of many of Mother’s rhymes,
We often disagree on current events, especially those political,
Heated discussions are therapeutic, as long as they’re not overly critical,
It might be a quick visit we’ll have & I’ll supply the coffee & cake,
It won't be a rowdy time, just us guys sharing a nice little break.

Oh my goodness, what little dolls! They wonder why we always see them that way in our minds eye!

That is such a beautiful and perfect poem.
I love how it includes the nice things and the not so nice things about summer.
To think splinters would take me back to my childhood and make me nostalgic! That's magic.
The best things in life...aren't things

I'm wearing my shamrock earrings & a shamrock necklace too,
You gave them to me years ago Mom & I’m wearing them for you,

My exquisite Irish Mother how I can hear your voice so clearly,
Your words of wisdom have rang so true & I cherish them so dearly,
It’s been so many years since we’ve sat down & enjoyed a cup of tea,
Your touch of magic in all you did, will forever be with me,
I’m sorry Mom for making you worry when I’d arrive home so late,
When the light in the kitchen window was on, I knew I’d meet my fate,
You were always fair & accepting & helped me to understand,
Those principles are one of the keys to life with such a gentle hand,
When you lost your temper & gave me that glaring gaze,
I was a most deserving recipient in very many ways,
I’m remembering some of the things about you that made you so unique,
How only you could burn toast every time, was part of your mystique,
Your sense of humour, your singing & your charming zest,
& how you put up with silly me, when I was a bit of a pest,
Your youngest daughter is savouring many sweet memories of you,
& your “you’ll understand when you’re a parent” advice, sure turned out to be true.

Thinking of you & wishing I could be spending Mother's Day with you. My Mother is always with me. I feel her presence always. My Mom was one of the strongest women I ever knew & I am so fortunate that she taught her five children well. She always looked pretty - even when she was puttering around outside doing chores at our cottage.

I don't come to SC as much as I used to, but have not forgotten the many wonderful SCers. Like you! Oh Loocie. How is it that when I want to leave something here to make you smile, feel better and stronger only to find I myself leave here with a smile, feeling stronger for having known you here at SC? You are a special woman. I'm glad to hear your treatments are going well. Stay strong.

Sending prayers and the light your way, every new day
Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day.

Good Morning and Happy Monday Dear Loocie

I hope you had a perfect Mother's Day. We were busy entertaining and being entertained since Friday and all I can say is whew....it's nice andd quite and back to normal now LOL.

They extended the Cancer society fundraiser until the 10th this year which was a good thing as I was able to find some additional and very generous pledges on Saturday. I was surprised as this year the younger people (early twenties) were quite willing to donate.

At the hospital today. I will begin the 4th cycle of my treatment. I'm almost too tired to be tired. At the end of this phase, I'll have another ct scan & get a nice clear picture of how things are going. Sometimes, when I find myself on the why me side of town, I take a quick look around me & see other people who are just great. I finally was able to get someone to accept the $10.00 Tim's card. I handed it over to a lady who was waiting for her cousin & she looked like she needed something to temporarily take her mind off her troubles. I'll be back downtown tomorrow too. Also it looks like things are moving for me in regards to getting a new leg (to stand on). I'm keeping the faith & sort of behaving myself.
    Cheers people!

Had to do the Doc today, kinda a sudden visit, told me not to loose sleep!
    More tests to come.
BUT, wasted so much stress before! I know nothing still for sure.
I remember the dental surgeons in the 70's/80's
HOT nurses, A1 service, good drugs!

Ok its pretty much the same now! ALL nurses are hot!
Did I mention Lauren passed her re-test on math and is heading to placement!
    chronic care plan in place!

I saw this quote at Princess Margaret Hospital the other day & it struck a chord with me.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough & more." - Melodie Beattie.

To everyone out there who is waging a battle with this terrible thing called cancer - don't forget to make a little bit of time just for you.
