    Hi everyone .....
Recently I've tried a few (okay 4) of the VWTs.... and love them...... I guess the part I like is I know what coups I want (although it's always nice to see new ones ...and thanks to McMinn and his scouting abilities I see a lot of the new ones) .... but with the VWL I can ask for a bunch of the ones I will use and send in exchange some of the ones that I have no use for - but that someone else can use - so good exchange.

It seems more practical for me too in that you are just mailing off coups that people will use ... and in return receive ones that you will likely use!

I think I'm hooked on these VWTs ..... I've received two so far and they are a fair bit of effort to going through all the lists and find time to sort through all your coups but once it's in the mail it's in the conductors' hands and then you get your lovely package back in 2 weeks or so and it just has the coups that are on your list !

This week there seems to be more reps out restocking the coupon shelves at various places - found lots of dairy (island farms - probably more specific to BC), Pantene, degree, alberto, Schneiders, Shake and Bake and some smaller bread ones - Silverhill) .....

Some good shopping at LD .... still walk out with a big grin when I can stack for stuff we use!

I agree, the VWL trains are fun! As long as people's lists aren't completely outrageous, lol. I always adjust my list a little for these trains so I have some coupons that are easily accessible.

I'm still not finding a lot of coupons locally but I agree that the VWTs can be a great way to go. I have participated in one of them so far. Part of my challenge is that my trading coupons are horribly organized right now. I've had to spend time organizing my own supply lately. With that said, I think I need to get them organized and maybe try some VWTs again.

Yeah, it can be a LOT of work keeping everything organized. I still have a pile of coupons to go through and put away in my coupon bag. I get so many in the mail each day it's just a huge chore sometimes!! I learned my lesson though when I went shopping this weekend and found some awesome deals... then realized the coupons I needed weren't in my coupon bag but sitting on the table at home

Did anyone redeem their SDM points over the weekend? I'm saving mine up for Christmas now

Thanks sheets! I went back over my Wishlist and revised it so it's not as difficult..... funny how the tendancy is to be very specific and one-track .... I've added in a few more "generic" coups but essentially the list is comprised of the products/brands I use every day..... I know what it feels like to look at someone else's wishlist and go ...What???? I have none of those!

Can't say enough about LDs though .... free dove ... free d/w detergent .... seems too good to last ..... Just wish they sold more food products ... my DS could eat me out of house and home ....mid teen years!

I love the VWT as well!! I have done a few now & also a few regular trains. I am seeing the same coupons over & over on the regular trains....usually the ones that not too many people want. So, yes...the VWT are the way to go!
I have seem some lists that are very specific & hard to get coupons for. I try to keep mine generic, but through the learning curve on site here, I've narrowed the products down a bit on my list, to help me find coupons that I would really use.
I think I'll save my SDM points for Christmas too, unless something pops up that I just can't live without. I wish they sold cameras...I'd love a new DSLR digital with zoom... too bad I couldn't cash my points in for one of those gems! Although there is a bonus redemption event coming in September too...
Dahliagrower...I think we've been on a couple of VWT's now together! Hopefully the last one we did comes in soon!
    Cheers all!!

My thoughts and prayers are with them as well and also with the family of Jack Layton who passed away early this morning

I think they DO sell digital cameras at SDM! I've been eyeballing a laptop there but Christmas presents will come first. I haven't been going as much as I used to because I haven't found the sales all that great, even with coupons. I could use another good 20X the points event or even 18,500 points!!

I have done a couple VWT too. The first was a Newbie train and I got a bunch of the same coupons that weren't really the ones I wanted the most. Plus some early expires and substitutions. The second one however was so amazing. It was points based so I could make my most desired worth more and I got so many good ones! I am now hooked.

I used my first SDM bonus point coupon today. 8000 points when you spend $40 on baby products. I didn't get the 15 x the points that were advertised. I don't know if this was because I used the coupon or because I didn't buy the correct products (I didn't know which qualified). I had the other secret 20 x the points coupon so hopefully I will get a bunch more added to my account on Aug 31st. I have never used those before either so we will see. I still keep forgetting to pick up the gift card to pay with on my way in. I need to improve at that. There is lots of points I am giving up.

I am also saving my points for Christmas. Does anyone know if you can do more than one redemption in one transaction if you are buying a big ticket item? Or is it one redemption amount per transaction?

    Cheers,

As far as I know you can do two redemption's per day per card. I'm not sure if you can use them both for one transaction, maybe someone else can answer that?

    Hi gang,

I'm saving any SDM points for Christmas now too. Like you Tami, I could really use another bonus day or two. With that said, the last bonus day I went to was actually at Rexall. I'm finding their AM deals have been really good lately and we've been redeeming for the movie night passes which has been a lot of fun.

Free cake? I didn't see free cake at our store.

I did a quick trip today without most of my coupons. Used my last 3 Irish Spring coupons and got some soap to donate.

And bought some chocolate milk for my son.

Bought the 750 g. Armstrong cheese and found a tear pad with 75 cent off coupons.

    Hi everyone

For the first time since I started collecting coupons in February my little coupon holder is full. I was thinking about starting a train as I have been a passenger on so many kind conducter's trains.

I am very nervous to do this so I was wondering if I could post my idea here for some feedback before I attempt this. Also this way if any of you on the team want to ride you can have first dibs on a spot.

Would this work for you? I really value any feedback you might have.

    Thanks,

    Loops` 1st Loopy Train

This will be an old fashioned train with a wish list addition.

I will take 5 riders. Newbies welcome.

I will send out an envie of coupons as with a regular old fashioned train. I also request that you send me a wish list to post here when you PM me to request a seat. The wish list should be ordered from most ------» least coveted so other riders know your preferences. Please keep your lists reasonable to avoid receiving stamps.

The train will also include an envelope labelled for each passenger. Your only obligation aside from the usual with a train is to put a minimum of 4 different coupons for the next rider in their envelope. If you do not have coupons from their list 1 stamp = 1-2 missing coupons and 2 stamps = 3-4 missing coupons to help with their mailing cost. This way you are guaranteed at least this for riding the train.

You will rate the conductor and the passenger before you when you receive the train.

You may also include coupons for the riders later on in the train if you like. This is not required but feel free to do so. It gives them a bonus for being later on in the train and not getting first pick of the coupons.

Please remember to remove your envie to avoid any confusion for subsequent riders .

Your ins and outs include any envelope coupons. The wish list is only added to ensure everyone has a good ride.

Boarding pass: One coupon from my wishlist. Only so that I am also guaranteed the same . Don`t forget to label your pass so I can account for it. I will rate all the passengers once the train returns home.

    Rules

    1. Replace $ for $, BOGO for BOGO, etc.

    2. No printables, TFT, store specific, baby, pets, hair dye, etc. unless on someones list. The train will not include any of these leaving the station.

    3. Ensure expiry dates are a minimum of a month and a half past when you mail out the train to give passengers time to receive and use the coupons. Any coupons expiring within two weeks are freebies and do not need to be replaced. Remove any expired coupons to save on postage.

    4. No more than two of the same coupon (UPC) on the train at any time
(excluding what is in the envelopes).

    5. Post your ins and outs on the paper provided and also in this thread when you mail off the train.

    6. Mail the train out be the end of the next day after receiving it to ensure our choo choo keeps chugging along.

    7. Notify the condctor if it appears the rules have not been followed when you received the train.

    8. Most importantly, have fun!!!
