I hurt my shoulder 3weeks ago now and at first it was the muscle I think and the pain was behind my shoulder and over top of my shoulder blade. That pain is still there but now my actual shoulder is getting really sharp pain when I move it around and if I try to use it much. should I be going to the doctor or is it going to still heal on it's own? I looked up bursitis because of the sharp pain but my shoulder isn't visibly swollen so could it still be a possibility? or not? does anyone know what I should do? usually pain doesn't last this long when I hurt something.thanks.

If it's still hurting and you're getting new pain, I'd say, a trip to the dr. or emergency is warranted. I usually think that emergency will get you faster info since they can take the x-rays or ct scan or ultra sound right then and there and also there are specialists on call if you need it. Going to my doctor takes 3 weeks then she refers you to someone else that takes another month or so. I'd think you've given it time enough to get better and in fact, it sounds a little worse. (Probably not the advice you were hoping for - sorry!)

I say go to a doc. Have you been taking any Advil or anything? Awhile back I had a problem with my hip that was very sore. My doc told me to take extra strength Advil twice a day, and after doing that for awhile, it did go away.

hi back to KK7 and thanks everyone for the advice. I hate the er though because you end up sitting there forever. here they are not so good maybe because in the er the last time I went they just said that I should book an xray though my doctor and send me home. lol maybe my shoulder is a bit different though? it isn't always so bad that I need to take painkillers but it is in pain. if that makes sense. I am learning to be more left handed though to avoid using it. lol

I would definitely see a doctor about your shoulder. Please update us. I hope it heals soon.

definitely go see a doctor...because what I have learned from finally being diagnosis with whiplash you wait to long the pain may worsen then you really be kicking yourself because it hurts like *beep, beep* then maybe if ya can get it...massage therapy...it does wonders compared to not my friend right now is physiotherapy...
yes trying out to be left handed is very hard since I am predominately right handed...Last edited by greentires4me; Sat, Aug 27th, 2011 at 04:06 AM.

My dad has been going through something similar. Pain in his shoulder came out of nowhere about a month or so ago. He thinks maybe he tweeked it picking something up, but really doesnt know. He waited about 3 weeks before going to the doctor.
He tried his chyropractor first, then for xrays, bloodwork and a few other things, doc thinks maybe its a pinched nerve, and hoped muscle relaxers would help. Now he is on oxy's as well, which I dont like, but he isnt sleeping either because of the pain.
I would go to the doctors to get the ball rolling, and if the pain goes goes away by itself then great, but if they do find something, you;ll be out of pain that much sooner. How'd you hurt it? Do you sleep on that side ?
I dislocated my shoulder playing the Wii and it placed itself, but when I sleep on that side when the weather gets cooler, I still get pain. Is this something that could've happened ?Previously CanadianBella... I'm baaack!

Don't know what to tell you Deals, but if you feel it's not getting better you should go to a doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

I decided to do something I shouldn't have. lol I was trying to prune a branch and I know it was too big for me to handle but I did it anyways. Yes I do sleep on that side as well. it has been interesting because I roll onto that side automatically so it wakes me up sometimes. I don't notice pain 24/7. It sort of comes and goes I think in terms of the level of pain.
I wasn't able to go today and don't think I can manage to go in tomorrow because it isn't so terrible that I need to get in right away. I thought I will phone the doctor on Monday. sometimes I can get in soon. when it first happened it was more behind my shoulder and sort of around my shoulder. behind my shoulder along the shoulder blade it isn't so bad now but around my shoulder is worse. unless it just feels worse because the other area feels better? I have no clue. But thanks for the input and I will call on Monday I think. I have other stuff I should get checked out anyways if this is better by the time I get in. lol I tend to let stuff slide until I have a few things and have to go in. I make the appointment worth it that way.
