Thread: Safeway pricing as it becomes part of Sobeys

I was shopping at Safeway today and noticed that several items were scanning at incorrect prices. For example - a Pineapple was meant to be $3.49 but scanned in at $5.99, green onions were two for $1.00 and scanned it at $1.75, etc. I noticed because I know what I should be paying and watch the prices, however, not one other person at the checkouts was noticing including the cashiers. The prices were changed because I pursued that they were incorrectly scanning and someone from Safeway was sent to check.
I'm posting this here just as a heads up - I spoke with a Safeway Customer Service person after I finished checking out and they said they're experiencing this as SKU's are changed to match Sobeys SKU's.
So heads up if you're shopping at Safeway over the next while - you could easily spend quite a bit more than you should if you're not carefully watching prices.
Happy shopping!

At Safeway, the cashier still need to swipe her own discount card to get the lower price, happened to me too, but after the cashier swiped her card the correct prices came up

Great heads up OP.
Just like at any store, grocery or other wise, check your receipt before leaving the store.
Saves on gas on bus fare, returning to get your money back with scanning errors/shelf price errors/flyer advertised errors.
You will be happy you did, like this lady
