The Quebec-based chain announced the decision to employees early Tuesday.
In an e-mail, Jacob spokeswoman Christelle Basmaji said the stores will remain open for a few weeks to liquidate inventory.
According to Jacob’s website, the brand operates 100 stores and employs 1,500 workers.
Jacob went through a financial restructuring in recent years. It was placed in creditor protection in November 2010 after posting losses of $45 million in three years

Store said that no return or refund on merchandise, only exchange for store credit which expires on May 31. So please make sure the size fits and everything's fine before committing to buy.

Went to Jacob last night for the 40% off. By the time I got there, everything was picked over. I liked one shirt but even with 40% off it would've cost $30 and it was honestly H&M quality. I got a better deal on better quality tops at the Bay yesterday with their one day 50% off sale.
Sorry Jacob. I do like you, but you're expensive.
The girl said the store is closing in 3 months but no sales. They are not getting any new shipments and the clothes they are selling currently will run out when they run out

Got an email today - now it's an extra 40% off red ticket prices.
Was told Toronto Eaton Centre location will be one of the last stores to remain open - for at least another 2 months. Apparently, they will get the leftovers from the other stores plus they still have 2 more collections coming through, so hold off in buying now and to wait for a bit in case anyone has gift cards to use up.

A word from the President:
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.... what more can I say........

that is great that they are still honouring gift cards. If you have one I personally would use it as soon as possible. I got stuck with a $65 gift card from another retailer that went bankrupt and didn't honour their cards.
