Super embarrassed but I don't know how to to figure out if a markdown is a good deal in the long run?

Can't figure out how to take a % or $ amount off a package of markdown food to see what the new price per/weight is.

    Please help.

    Thanks.

    Mostly meat markdowns.

For example: 1kg of sausage is priced at $10.00 The weight of the product is 0.75 kg. The markdown sticker is 20% off. or $2.00 of the package. I just want to know what the price per kg is after the markdown.

Would the 20% off be off the price per lb? or is it $2 off the .75 kg package?

Here is what we did when Freshco had the Maple Leaf Prime chicken on mark down.
There was a $2 rip and stick coupon on every package.
Good deal: we found the cheapest chicken and bought those.
Good deal: reg. $5.22, sale $3.22
Compared with: reg. $8.04, sale $6.04

Buy the smallest size you can (that feeds your family). This takes you closer to being free, with coupon.

Sorry I mean an either or scenario.

20% off the price of the package would equal what per/kg?

or if it was a $2 sticker off the price of a .75/kg which works out to be $7.50/pack - $2.00= $5.50. What is the new cost per/kg.

The math problem reads like this:

    regular price: 1 kg = $10
    sale price, 20% off: 1 kg =$8.00
therefore, the price per kg is $8.00

    0.75 kg sausage package = $8.00 x 0.75 = $6.00
