I think this is bitter sweet depending on how it is utilized. I hope they will still offer inserts that can be used at stores that don't accept printed coupons. I am excited to see how it all works out

This is awesome! I just wonder if they are going to do away with the inserts. It would be a lot cheaper for them if we just print the coupons! Although I haven't had a problem with using printable coupons in any of the stores I go to, I have had problems with my printer and not getting the coupons! Keeping my fingers crossed they still send out the inserts! (This IS great though for people who never get any inserts.)

Awesome news but I'd much rather select them and get them mailed to me. The only two places I am able to shop easily (Metro and No Frills) don't take printables

Not sure about metro but No frills has to, its in there policy. If you have a cashier thats not wanting to accept a printable from you, speak to someone from the office. If you still having issues contact head office. If you need contact info pm me. I had an issue b4 and head office contacted the store who now has no problems accepting them from me

Thanks for the post. It seems like websaver, save, gocoupons have not had much lately and while I get the SS will be printables, it would be great to have another source. I've printed and used from the US site, they use mice type around the edges to prevent photocopying etc. Never had a problem using them (in the US of course!).
I hope SS notifies retailer councils of this new type of coupon to hopefully prevent issues especially from those retailers that are more particular about printables.Kate

Looking forward to this site but its mixed with a little bit of disappointment.
I am NOT partial to being looked at and treated like a thief when I use printables (so as a result, do not use them very often). It seems to be a commonplace behaviour for a substantial number of cashiers already, and with Smartsource apparently going printable, the behaviour may grow in leaps and bounds.
From what I've read on this site, it would appear that too many stores and managers neglect to give their cashiers any coupon training, fail to provide them with company coupon policies or teach them the etiquette of treating a couponing customer with respect. (I have to wonder if its sometimes "unofficially" intentional, in order to discourage couponers...? ) Maybe with this coupon-source change on the horizon, coupled with the increased number of couponers out there, retailers will step up??? (I can dream... Then again, I'm still dreaming of the day retailers can scan the coupon at the register, thus taking a lot of pressure off both the cashier and the couponer, LOL! )
Its unfortunate that the very nature of coupons lends them to being copied or otherwise abused which in turn has cashiers and retailers cringing when they see a printable... My hope is that SmartSource will be far more savvy about how their printables system works, thus minimizing the 'printables fraud' visited upon honest couponers by the less scrupulous individuals out there; or that there will be an option to have them printed and mailed to us.
I'm also sure there are many of us who are going to miss the access to the paper copies...
Now, if the site would launch already, so we can stop speculating and start discovering and enjoying!Last edited by PurpleChocolate; Tue, Sep 6th, 2011 at 06:34 PM.
