Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
When two very successful artists get hitched, it doesn't naturally follow that both will enjoy creative and financial growth. As we've discovered from the union of Madonna and British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, the more talented partner can sometimes see the quality of their output suddenly drop to the level of their spouse. So far neither Miranda Lambert nor Blake Shelton have shown any signs of the so-called ''Ritchie effect'' since the radio friendly duo got married. If anything, the number 1 entry of Lambert's Pistol Annies side project and the renewal of Shelton's singing contest The Voice, indicates the merger should be mutually profitable. Vince Gill and Amy Grant
On an award-for-award basis, celebrated country crooner Vince Gill and gospel sweetheart Amy Grant would easily beat any couple in Nashville for the largest accumulation of gilded hardware. At last count Gill has 20 Grammy Awards (which is more than any country artist) to go with his numerous CMA and ACM Awards while Grant has six Grammys, 25 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Of course, they've got the mega-platinum sales to go with the commendations. (credit: Getty Images)

Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash
One of country's all-time great power couples, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash earned their priority position in the hearts of country music fans with the enduring love they shared. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
Chances are good that if anyone says ''country music power couple'' it's Tim McGraw and Faith Hill that immediately come to mind. They're both hugely successful recording and performing artists showing promise as actors in major films when not admirably throwing their considerable clout behind worthwhile charitable operations. Apart from hosting various fundraisers in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, together they organized the Nashville Rising benefit concert and established Neighbour's Keeper Foundation to fund humanitarian services during natural disasters. They also understand the importance of taking turns. (credit: Getty Images)

Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal
Formerly one half of an 80s country power couple with Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash has moved from strength to strength with her current sidekick, musician, producer and songwriter John Leventhal – a studio jack of all trades and master of most. As the eldest daughter of Johnny Cash, Rosanne had to deal with a large shadow but has proven to be an exceptionally gifted artist with her own voice. That, combined with Leventhal's tastefully understated production work and skillful sonaft – he's had over 100 compositions recorded by various artists – makes for a devastating one-two punch. George Jones and Tammy Wynette
It may be difficult to comprehend for younger country fans but even though the tumultuous marriage of superstars George Jones and Tammy Wynette lasted only six short years (1969-1975), during that time George & Tammy were genuine Nashville royalty, way beyond the level of Miranda & Blake or even Faith & Tim today. The key to their success was making every song seem like a personal revelation about their private life together. It proved endlessly fascinating for the listening public in the years before the advent of TMZ and celebrity-driven mainstream news. (credit: Getty Images)

Steve Earle and Allison Moorer
While it's true that Steve Earle is no more of a country chart threat at this point than his singer/songwriter wife Allison Moorer, the iconoclastic couple have the sort of art-before-commerce approach to their projects that gives them a degree of musical integrity most power couples will never approach. Their bank statements might not stack up but their power lies in credibility which can't be bought. (credit: Getty Images)

Marty Stuart and Connie Smith
Much more than merely a flashy dresser with a closet full of snazzy stagewear, Marty Stuart is one of Music City's most important custodians of country's printed, woven and strung traditions. His wife is Grand Ole Opry legend Connie Smith and together they're a formidable force for the preservation of the music's colourful cultural history. (credit: Getty Images

A.P. Carter and Sara Carter
The first power couple of country music could very well be Alvin Pleasant Carter and wife Sara Carter who along with Sara's first cousin Maybelle comprised the Carter Family. While the song-collecting A.P. was the business side of the group who arranged their groundbreaking 1927 recording date with with Ralph Peer in Bristol, Tennessee, Sara was the captivating lead singer while guitar-picking cousin Maybelle provided musical accompaniment and harmony vocals. The Bristol Sessions, as they later came to be known, was really the big bang of country music. Although Sara and A.P.'s marriage dissolved in 1936, the unique sound they developed would inspire generations to come. (credit: Getty Images)
