Yeah, sorry Natalka. My comment wasn't clear. I read the article and knew ahead of time that the milk would have to be destroyed. It was more of a rhetorical question. They have to take action against the farmer, but the action itself has consequences, which those who wanted action taken may or may not have thought of.

I was and still am disgusted by these people! What kind of person does this? And eight of them all together in one place-that is an animals worse nightmare.
As far as the owners saying that they did not know, I think it is their responsibility to know what is happenning to the animals they make their money from.

How about this? Milk is for calves. We have absolutely no right to have a baby separated from his mom and killed, just so we can enjoy ice cream and milk in our cereal. Milk isn't healthy for Humans, nor are animal products period. A vegan diet is irrefutably healthier and kinder, not only to the Animals who suffer for our taste buds, but for the planet and your own health.

Right. We should just let all the cows go free to join the vast herds of wild cows roaming the plains.
Oh wait, there are no cows in the wild. If we stopped farming cows then there's be no more cows since we raise them. You're advocating the extinction of an entire species. That's horrific! Why would you do that? Why do you hate cows so much?

It's better than eating them
If we stopped eating them and culled all the sick ones(probably half) and let the others roam free this would not be a new scenario. Bison roamed free by the millions, oh wait we killed all of them too.
Cattle would dwindle down to a sustainable amount. The only reason there are millions of them is because we want to eat them and milk them. We are the ones who effed this up. Created a monster in effect. We have to put on our big girl panties and clean up this mess.
By the way these sick people who treat the animals this way are everywhere and they don't just work with animals. Cruel people somehow manage to get jobs like this where they can abuse animals or even people in nursing homes.

I believe you when you say the animals were well treated. But now we need to feed billions. There is no rom for compassion when you need to slaughter animals by the hundreds of thousands. We have not figured out a way to do it that makes money, keeps costs down, and is friendly to the environment. There is also no will to figure it out. Everyone just wants to make money and it's supply and demand.
What do you think the impact would be if everyone chose to do a "meatless monday" . just that alone would be huge. If people want to eat meat and consume dairy then it's up to us to make the rules not the industry because clearly they have no mercy.
