Shouldn't SmartCanucks be the SECOND Canadian Deals Blog, since is technically a blog? I mean, they DO have the word "weblog" in the URL, e.g. /deals/main.php/weblog/emailfriend/21690/ and they ARE listed on Technorati.

If I were to Google "The First Canadian Deals Blog", the first thing that comes up is Boo's pride and joy (Hoo-ah!). If it can be Googled successfully in this manner, then this is truly the name - technically or not - this is one of those "Reality Invents Itself" sort of situations.

But type in "Canadian deals" and R*D comes up #1. (though ad the word "blog" on the end and Boo's comes up)

What are the chances that someone is going to search for "The First Canadian Deals Blog"? I've wondered why this was called the "first Canadian deals blog" from the first time I've stumbled onto it. R*D has been around for quite some time, a couple of years I'm sure, and is in fact a blog.

If you want my friendly suggestion (if you're open to suggestions), you can title it "The Canadian Deals Blog".

i wouldn't be so sure about "second" ... there's some more canadian deals sites that came before SC....

True, but those doesn't seem like blogs. Besides, I didn't mean technically second, just not the first.

I strongly believe that SmartCanucks.ca is the first Canadian Deals Blog. I write daily in my blog from a a more personal perspective.

Just having the word weblog in your address or an RSS feed or being listed in Technorati doesn’t necessarily make your website a blog in the context most people understand. According to Webster's New Millennium Dictionary of English a blog is:
Definition: an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log
Example: Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author

Non of the the websites you mentioned match this definition.

Thanks boo. I was forgetting about the personal element of blogs, although I would say that this site is a deals site with a slant towards a blog, if that makes sense.
To quote Merriam-Webster's (the real one) Collegiate Dictionary:
"a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer"
