Airline deals from Ottawa to Toronto? Help please!

Our youngest daughter has JUST decided to come home from university for Thanksgiving weekend. She wasn't sure if it would be possible since she has so much studying to do so its a last minute decision. She isn't able to leave until the Friday of the weekend and only needs a one way flight since shes driving back with a friend.

Anybody know of any promo codes or deals for a one way flight from Ottawa to Toronto the weekend of October 7th? The fares are NUTS!!

If picking her up downtown isn't an issue try Porter. The taxes/fees are way less than Pearson.

I used to go to school in Ottawa and come home to Toronto sometimes on weekends. This is a trick i used a couple of times - unsure if you can use it on long weekends - Head to Air Canada's website a few hrs before she wants to leave and i was able to get a fare to Toronto by just paying taxes! This was a few years ago but might still happen.
Also another way to get her home is train or bus - they are much cheaper than a flight but do tend to take longer.

I have been seeing commercials on TV if you sign up for a RBC westjet credit card they give you $350 west jet dollars (soon expiring) with West Jet 1$ = 1$ toward airfair.. i am sure you can fly from Toronto-ottawa and back for less then $350 so it would be a free flight..... then if the fees are TOO high.. cancel your credit card... Best Savings.. NOTE.. I have not done this.. but is worth a try...

By train ...check out Via Express deals. They offer seats at up to 75% off to fill train so great if u need a seat on short notice.

Take the train. Far cheaper than flying. Even if they offer a great deal for a flight... you still have to pay all the taxes and extra fees which can still bring the price over $100 one way.

Have your daughter become a VIA preference member (free to join) to earn points for every dollar spent on travel as well as get bonus points for joining so long as you meet the conditions....I think it is spending over $250 on travel within 6 months and get 500 free points.

The last minute deals are the best value for last minute trips but very restrictive in what trips are available. So if you are planning ahead... don't rely too highly on the last minute deals.

Currently there are no last minute deals for Ottawa to Toronto during that weekend. The best possible deal leaving Friday is @ 5:40 AM which still have some economy special fares for $69+taxes. The next deal is @ 12:20 PM with a discounted economy deal for $109+taxes for an adult or $90+taxes for youth (12 to 25 of age) and I think there is only one seat left for this deal... need to hurry.

If she is able too, she can try to catch the 6:25 PM train on Thursday... they have the discounted fare in economy still available.

If she planned ahead, she might of been able to score some special deals which is the $69 price for one way travel between Ottawa and Toronto. Also VIA has great promotions where you can get even better deals such as 60% off the regular fare which they had over the summer and the 50% off earlier this September.

Traveling by train is great. You can stretch your legs, save on cost of fares, study and use your laptop to do homework or use the free internet access. The duration of a trip from Ottawa to Toronto is from 4 1/2 hours to 5 hours.

If she has the ICIS student discount card, she saves move on VIA. She can get the card at school at student services or through her student union.

I think the Adult Via return rate is about $189.

Nothing wrong with taking the bus. $50 one way ...and I've never had any issues taking the bus. Whenever I used to take the train, it was always late. The bus has always been on time for me
