I still can't believe "that" was the security plan. . . shove the PM in a closet. Hmmm.

The problem with caucus meetings is they are closed door meetings, the PMs security staff are not in the room
Seems like it was MPs who did it, not his security detail, who were probably quite worried when they got into the likely locked room and couldn't find him b he was hiding in a closet and they were faced with MPs with flagpoles
While I agree with what Anderson Cooper said to the (junior) journalist from Sun Network who asked for a photo with him while journalists waited, I was sad to see it got him fired

It would have taken Anderson Cooper at least a couple of hours to get there from the US so at that point it was just the same coverage etc and not breaking news.
Kinda like cops etc, I think it is likely that journalists deal with covering these types of tragedies with some gallows humour etc just to get through the days, otherwise they would burn out. So while a bad idea, I can see a junior reporter being a little excited to find himself beside someone like Anderson Cooper
I also disagree with the G&M that the Canadian outlets covered it as calm, cautious and correct compared to the US networks (ok some of the US networks)

Earlier yesterday I had posted the news article about Barbara, but last evening when I heard her interview on the radio, wow did I ever cry - so heartbreaking.
Totally agree with what Sharon said above - "I'm glad Nathan's last moments were spent with someone with such compassion."
Saw the hwy lined with people paying their respects as he was brought home

I was watching an interview of Barbara Winters on CTV Ottawa earlier and at one point, she started to cry while saying what she told him. I had to stop watching as it was so heartbreaking.
