GREAT question! I was looking into this myself but got side tracked. I used to use Soy protein but have been told to use Whey. I dunno I guess it's good try to try both to see how your body feels/reacts to it.
What you need to look out for I found is additives, colours, preservatives, sugars, fillers and 'where' it's manufactured and for me, I go as far as calling the company and asking WHERE the source of their protein comes from, if it's imported. Why?
Well because I would not consume a protein like this imported from China, they have had HUGE problems with adding chemical proteins to make it look like they are natural but they aren't. They did this with baby formula and imported pet foods, babies and pets died from it.
When I buy things like this I buy organic but I 'do' call the company first before I buy it and if they don't 'know' the answer or won't find out for you then I'd not buy it, thats my own feelings on it, safe rather then sorry.
I hope I didn't add to your confusion I'm still confused myself!
