Yes - same as usual. It's usually a good idea to have one or two extra items at the checkout with you in case stuff rings in lower than shelf price - the redemptions give no cash back

O my God! It is so much fun to go through this thread. You guys talking about $250.00 redemptions, how much you had fun that redemption day etc.... I love this thread!

Every time i look at this week's flyer i get so tempted to redeem for samsung 7" tablet but i have to keep myself away from the flyer this week. I am hoping to buy a 10" tablet, hopefully sdm has a good price on redemption day.
And this $75.00 gift card with ps4 is trying so hard to break me but....i'll try to do my household chores instead of thinking about sdm/electronics/redemption/reading sdm brags on SC...... OMG! It's going to be hard! Lol.

Yes I think you are right, the one I remember the most was the last one, Shoppers provided Christmas that year for us.

But do you really think that they are at a loss for paying the optimum program fee etc. i think every item in every store in the world has a ton of margin. I have seen a lot of dragon's den and shark tank so.....you know...... I have seen in those shows that retailors earn a lot of profit no matter how much they are giving back to their customers as a loyalty gift.

And the other thing is that sometimes we (sdm lovers) overpay a little bit for some things at sdm when we calculate how much we are getting back in pts. So that overpayment for thatstuff can offset their "loss" too.

What do you think about this?

Their business model is obviously successful, I've seen a lot of SDM expansion in the greater Vancouver area and I haven't seen any Shoppers close down due to lack or business or due to losses in the optimum program. I don't know about more rural areas though.

I see more people at Shoppers than I do at Target sometimes. They are doing something right.

I have enough for 4 redemptions( Ive hoarded my points for awhile now, and I use the credit card, and the majority of my daughters formula was bought at sdm when it was 20x the points) but we are going to just do 2 redemptions.... DH wants ps3 stuff, games, maybe a controller.. I want food items and maybe vitamins, cold and flu pills.., and I saw an ad on tv for a pedicure thingey? not sure how much it is.... will have a look in store this week..

Let me know if you see the pedicure thing! If it's the ad I'm thinking of I think it said it was available at RCSS, etc. Not sure who else carries it.

So buying costs them $ if you feel like being punitive, but they also get advertising $$ based on sales, so by shopping more at a store, they get more revenue too

+1 don't shop to punish based on points. Shop elsewhere to punish because they don't get your $

I remember reading something about "the store that you redeem your points at will lose money, where as the store you buy something (and earned points from) will gain money"

Can some SDM insider or expert please explain how this works.

Have anyone seen any Disney Frozen merchandise at SDM (besides the chocolate calendar)? I want Olaf.

My store has an Elsa bank, Frozen lip gloss, jewellery, books and a toddler plate/bowl/cup set. I wish they had actual Frozen toys or stuffies cus both my kids are obsessed with Frozen lol.
Target has a big plush Olaf for 19.xx
