stores that give useless receipts..whats the point?

Why do stores provide you with an exchange receipt if they will only tell you its not valid with out your old receipt?
Who keeps there old scibbled out recipt if they provide you with a new one?
I went to the Real Canadian Superstore on Weston rd and 401 and I was refused a return because I had an exchange receipt.
If exchange tecipts are not valid dont give them to customers.
I believe its away for the store to tie in your money.
If your exchanging an item you should demand a full refund then repurchase your new item.
Or else if something happens your SOL

Isn't the exchange receipt only to confirm the exchange? Everything else is still recorded on the original receipt.

No I bought a box of diapers at Real Canadian Superstore for $32.99 dident realize they were the wrong size.
Before I even left the store I went to customer service to exchange them.
The lady working gave me an exchange slip and threw out my old receipt she said that the exchange slip was my new "original"
Recipt.
A week later the diapers are on sale at Walmart for $19.99 I took my exchange receipt to get a price adjustment.
Real Canadian Superstore said I cant do that with an exchange receipt.
The manager actually said that customers are not suppose to get exchange receipts.
They ended up doing it for me because one of the ladys working thete had remembered me.
However my point is stores should not give you exchange receipts if they know that if you want to return or adjust an items price they wont be valid.
Then yhe store should just refund you and resell you the item no exchange slips.

Well Im in Toronto and they do price match everyone except drug stores.
They also adjust prices if it goes sale up to 15 days later, because its within thrte 15 return policy.
Superstore is corporatley owned so the ones in your area should follow the same policy.

RCSS price matches here as well..love it for price matching no frills..

Yes in Toronto RCSS and No Frills PM but Loblaws and the Independent do not. I could never understand that as they are all owned by "Loblaws Companies".

So Superstore will price match something you bought within 15 days if it goes on sale somewhere else? Or do you have to return the item and then rebuy it with a price match?

Sounds like it was a mistake of the cashier based on what you have above.

Sounds like the cashier made an error in giving you the exchange receipt in the first place . Next time, insist on getting the scribbled original.
