This is not egg, this is Jerusalem artichoke (in french this is called topinambour).

Funny the kind of brain-wash we could have!!! Here we change the rules!!!

and what did you exchange for?
All I've done this year is canned tomatoes. I have tons of B&B pickles left from last year and find that we don't eat the chili sauce/beets/jams anymore so I don't bother with them.

I give jalapeno in cider, "black paste" tomato paste, a sauce of eggplant, sweet red pepper, tomato and cider, pepper confit, and a sweet and sure sauce onion and pepper.

I've got pickled zucchini, pickled jurusalem artichoke, radish relish, pickled haricot and pepper, plum "Reine-Claude" sauce and last jar was pear and ginger sauce.

Love this ~ reminescent of my childhood - Mom exchanging her canned salmon, pickles and relish for applesauce, peaches, cherries etc. The canning storage was a cement tomb under the back porch. It always smelt damp and musty - cobwebs everywhere. I was afraid to go to the back of the room - buts that where the canned cherries were. My brother and I would steal the cherries and eat them in our forest fort. We never returned the jars - Every year during canning season (August) Mom would wonder where the hell all the jars went & would have to buy more jars.
