My computer had a virus from smiley central, so I was without my daily interaction with smart canucks for 5 days. Wow did I ever miss the forum and people, it sucked big time! Very thankful to be back online

I hate the geeks that can only flex their muscle by inflicting grief on the rest of us by sending viruses. It's the nerds version of bullying.
Remember that even though pets are here for such a short time they teach us things we would never be able to learn in many lifetimes on our own.

Somehow it was linked to my web space? I ignore my little web helper whois and overrode to access smiley central and voila virus. But my computer geeks only charged me 47 $ to fix also my computer is so much flippin faster. They want me to come back or refer people. Viruses seem to be a lot of their business they said!

When are people going to understand that there is no such thing as a free lunch? If you are going to sites like that and you don't have protection, then be prepared to face the consequences.

Everyone reading this now, Urge you to get mcafee security 2008 or the free AVG, along with the following ccleaner, ad-aware 2008, win patrol.

All those should be free, except for the mcafee, but if you know what you are doing, you can get is for nothing.

Anyhoo...uninstall Norton ASAP, as it's a pile of dung that clogs up your system and makes is slower, not to mention a lot of the viruses out there are immune to it.

$47 to remove virus, that is fair enough. I also run my own little business, registered and all, and my prices are way cheaper than geek squad and the rest. I also build PCs to spec for people, only adding what they need

Yeah well, I have the following AVG 8, spybot, ccleaner and still got the virus, I'm not an idiot, I was trying to find a smiley and bam. I take great care with even a lot of the freebies on here. Too bad you don't live near me I'd rather give the money to a mom and pop operation than a company but like I said these guys are great and reputable, been going to them for a few years.

I didn't think that at all, I'm just frustrated. Because I do take great care in clearing my data daily and running spybot and scanning weekly as well as listening to my gut with various freebies posted here because I feel quite a bit is spam or scams for our information.
I 'm mad @ myself that's all. That $47.00 could been chinese take out for the family or movie night due to me not paying a attention this time!

Here is a computer am currently working on for someone

    Windows vista being installed

You won't even know it's a computer when it's in the entertainment centre in the livingroom. It comes with wireless keyboard and mouse and it hooks up to the internet at the back.

I have one myself in the livingroom

AV programs are kinda fickle these days. I switch to whatever runs good/works good/and consumes less resources. Right now i use NOD32.
