    Hi all
I was wondering what the rules are about making gift baskets out of my stock pile and selling it is? Are there rules against it. I know that you can't sell the product on its own but can you sell it as part of a gift basket?
Any help will be appeciated. Thanks

If you own it you can sell it if you choose too... the only items that i can forsee you getting into trouble for would be pharmacy items (would hate to see a child get in it), tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. There are some that speak out harshly about selling off extras but it is yours and you own it. You did pay a hefty price in time to acheive that stock pile... with coupons or with cash you did pay for it. Unless your making a biz of it or you are selling off enough to make it income tax reportable do what you want with it.

I think selling a product on its own and selling it in a gift basket are the same thing. You are still re-selling a product...

As you bought it, whether with coupons or not, you own it and can do with it what you want - it's the same as selling any item you own (furniture, clothes, etc - yard sales) - you own it you can sell it

It is yours - do what ever you want with it. Err on the side of caution, if someone gets a reaction from the product that they bought from you - they could come a knocking on your door.

This is from the Government of Canada Website:
Everyone holding a garage sale is legally responsible for ensuring that products sold, whether new or used, are safe and meet current safety standards. It is important to only sell items that are in good condition. Damaged articles should be discarded.
Before selling a product at a garage sale, check with the manufacturer or Health Canada to see if it has been recalled and if the problem has been corrected. If it has been recalled and the problem has not been or cannot be corrected, do not sell the product. Destroy it so it cannot be used by anyone else and throw it away.
To check for consumer product recalls posted by Health Canada: www.healthcanada.gc.ca/cps-recalls
The Hazardous Products Act is administered by Health Canada. It has safety requirements for certain consumer products, many of which are intended for use by children. Under the law, you cannot import, sell, give away (including lending), or distribute products that do not meet the requirements of the Hazardous Products Act.
All cosmetics sold in Canada must meet the requirements of the Food and Drugs Act, the current Cosmetic Regulations, and all other applicable legislation to ensure that they are safe to use and do not pose any health risk.

I agree that selling gift baskets is fine, it is your stuff. I have made diaper cakes for showers and "re-sold" huggies diapers to people wishing to gift these items. I say the better the discount I get, the better it is for someone buying my cakes. If I pay less, I charge less.

You can sell it without any issues whatsoever . You put lot of time & energy in collecting the items & making gift baskets , so no harm in selling them . There are no rules which prohibit you from doing so
