GCs and Points

So I went to SDM and bought 3 (2x$100) transactions for a total of $600 and received 6000 points.
On November 20, I should received 24,000 points for buying GCs.
Since I used my PC World Elite Mastercard which gives me 3x points, I got $18,000 PC points.

Since it was 20x on Saturday, DD bought the SDM perfumer sampler for $97. This is the cube box with mini versions of the big one.
I wanted the Elizabeth Arden lipstick 4-pack for $60 something. It was in the flyer and when I saw it in the store, they were various shades of red. I don't look good in red. So I saw a Lise Watier lipstick 3-pack for $59 which has colours more suited to me. Luck has it, the rep for Lise Watier was there. I could choose an item from the goodie box that she brought along. I chose a full size lipstick in a neutral colour and she gave DD lots of LW perfume samples in a spray vial.

We had a good time there. This is one of the SDMs where the cosmeticians knew what they were doing and very knowledgeable about points, they knew you could get points by buying a SDM GC. They said that they are going to have a big event on redemption day where there will be lots of gifts with purchase. DD and I looked at each other with wide eyes, lol. I have enough for 3 top level redemptions, and a 50K redemption if my bonus comes in on time. Can't wait.

That's amazing! I was trying to use my PC Elite MC and was refused even after I offered to show my ID. The cashier let me feel as if I was trying to scam the system as it is apparently a rule that one cannot use a credit card to buy gift cards.

I've never heard of that before! I've bought gift cards with my credit card many times

@innaor : Is there another SDM you can go to? I bought GCs on my PC MC at two different stores and it worked fine.

i wouldn't be surprised if it was a more recent update to their policy, i spotted another store (thrifty foods. which is part of the sobeys chain) have a similar sign up by the cash register
