HAMILTON, ON, Dec. 11, 2015/ CHCH-TV and its parent company, Channel Zero, have implemented a restructuring that will allow the channel to remain viable and for it to continue to deliver local news in the Greater Hamilton area. Channel 11 L.P., the entity that has created local news for CHCH since 2009, has in turn filed for bankruptcy effective today. CHCH is not ceasing operations or going off the air. CHCH and Channel Zero remain committed to the delivery of local news. Starting Monday, CHCH, joined by many of the familiar on-air personalities, will continue to broadcast the local news that viewers have been watching for over 60 years. This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by Shwa Girl; Fri, Dec 11th, 2015 at 07:03 PM.

This is news to me. The station had a long morning/day news program and had recently announced a Bloomberg news program broadcast. Really enjoyed their Morning Live program. It could be a reflection of the economy that not enough advertisers were buying ads to keep the station in a good financial position.

Sad for employees, but this seems to be the norm nowadays, people getting laid off left right and centre.
A little shocked Matt Hayes got let go.
There goes my reason for having cable.
We watched the news from 6am-7am every morning.
As we have to leave for work at 7am, this really sucks as my husband liked knowing if there was an accident on the linc/redhill.

When the last change in the station's ownership happened, I understood that the employees had to agree to changes in their benefits.
It makes sense to keep a Morning Live show to match up against the other morning programs wanting viewers. Think the news hours were due to make a change. Often found that the extended Morning Live program relied a good deal on entertainment news to fill some time.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

This is horrible news
I will very much miss my morning/and throughout the day local news....I need to know what's happening in the city! and even if I was not interested in the news I very much enjoyed the people and their personalities on the program and I watched it all day long! I loved it! When I younger we actually had Matt Hayes come to our class because he knew my teacher and he was such a nice guy! I'm very saddened I enjoyed this program and the people a lot! and just the other day I saw chch at my nearby mall filming our mall Santa Claus...
So...what's going to happen now? I mean..is there going to be a replacement? or are we going to be left without a local Hamilton news station? :/
why is this only happening to us? ...sometimes the more I look at Hamilton and compare it to other/surrounding cities I think wtheck is going on here... :/

Oh, I had to watch the original Tiny Talent Time as it was about the only thing on tv available.
Used to watch the Dofasco Choir Christmas specials too.

Saturday's paper had a full page B&W ad that seems to be the same content that the Channel Zero owner read online.
Yesterday's paper had two legal notices concerning bankruptcy meetings for Channel 11 LLP and its numbered Ontario parent corporation. The meetings for both entities will take place on Dec. 21 at the Homewood Suites hotel in Hamilton.

Shortly after the announcement, a privately-held numbered company separate from Channel Zero offered 58 full-time jobs and 23 part-time jobs to some of the former CHCH news employees.
Marzari said CHCH's employees were responsible for their own retirement savings plans and the company was not responsible for matching employee contributions.
The offers of employment have come from a privately held numbered company that does not have Channel Zero as its parent company, Fuoco said.
"It has a management contract with CHCH to provide news."Fuoco says employees have not been given a deadline to accept the positions, but they're being asked to make a decision on an "expedited basis."
But newsroom staffers said they were told they had until Sunday night to accept.Last edited by Ciel; Tue, Dec 15th, 2015 at 01:00 PM.
