Thread: Redemption - so much for the best laid plans

So after much thought and planning, decided to go for a simple $100 redemption today. Should have been only 4 or 5 products: Advil $19.99, Tassimo coffee $22.99, Bioderma makeup cleanser $26.99 and my boys were begging for the Star Wars blu-ray (hoping it was selling for $24.99). Wasn't too optimistic on Stars Wars as my store did not have it a few days ago so was prepared to swap out for other items that I had coupons, checkout 51 rebates and/or bonus optimum points for. Asked when I got there, no Star Wars so decided to go plan B
After lots of calculations, get to the cash register, things are getting scanned, cashier going through all the coupons and bam, what's sitting right there...the Star Wars blu-ray! By this point is would be too much of a hassle to start figuring out what to cancel out, so those boys better appreciate their Mom esp since it cost me $28.99 ugh (2000 bonus points but still)!
Still managed to make good use of some coupons, rebates and optimum offers
Store coupons = $3
Mfg coupons = $21
Regular points = 630 + instore points = 3500 + digital bonus points =3500. Total points earned 7630
Checkout 51 rebates = $10
Ultimately paid $57.77 ($15 of it tax) ... a bit bummed as I was hoping plan B would just mean close to $100 as possible, just pay tax and have checkout 51 rebates cover the tax amount. Not sure what happened to my in store calculations even with the movie.
Highlights:
- Drano $3.99 - $1.50 coupon - $3 C51 rebate
- Scrubbing bubbles $3.49 - $3 coupon - $3 rebate
- Advil Extra Strength liquid gel $19.99 - $5 coupon and 1500 instore bonus points
- Garnier Whole Blends $4.99 x 3 - $4 in coupons and 2000 instore bonus points wub3
- Kraft singles $3.99 and 1250 personal offer
- Pureleaf $3.49 - $2 mgr coupon and 250 bonus points
Moral of the story: don't let your kids guilt you into messing up your bonus redemption plans lolThis thread is currently associated with: Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug MartLast edited by ReallySC; Sat, Apr 9th, 2016 at 01:02 PM.

I can relate!! The only reason why I DIDN'T buy the DVD in my top level redemption today is because DS wanted the PC Praline pecans that were not on sale, but he LOVES them and when I mix them with plain salted pecans they go father and he will eat both. And he was with me.... Needless to say, I was over by $10 ish dollars. Guilt is a powerful!!!
Enjoy the movie!
ROAK a Huggies or Pampers code to my local pregnancy centre- toys, clothes, food & diapers always needed!

Kids are budget and redemption plans busters. Not that it means i dont like kids. I love them! But they dont like to see money in their mommy pocket. Lol.
Still very nice redemption! And you got some points back too. That's a plus!

So true and exactly why I did not bring my DD! I know I should still be happy with the shop, I mean I did get close to $167 worth of products (before tax). I only paid $58 and I've got $10 in rebates coming and almost $10 of optimum points, but it's like a challenge you set for yourself to maximize the redemption. On another positive note, we'll have a cheaper movie night than going out!

I didn't know you could get your personal offers and WUS offers during a point redemption. I think I just messed up....I did a 200.00 redemption and didn't load my personal offers beforehand

@Thumpersmom , awwwwww ... you definitely get personal offers or in-store product bonus points for Product offers but you only get WUS offers on the pre-tax amount spent after redemption amount. Example: last year I lucked out and got a 20x pts wus $50+ personal offer that happened to be valid during a bonus redemption day AND also happened to be when I was planning on redeeming points for a 10in Samsung tablet for around $270. I was so excited! Even yesterday I was thinking about whether to get something more significant like a tv as I had received a 18.5K offer wus $100 as a personal offer for this week but decided against it
